Skin

Sometimes we just need a little pampering. In the day to day mull of things we tend to forget about the little details in our lives such as proper diet, exercise, sleep and even skin care. Taking the time to pamper ourselves a little though can give us a bright new perspective on an old droll subject and will leave us feeling better about ourselves which will be reflected on in the world around us.

There are many things that can cause dry, peeling, rough skin and this is not something we want. The basic human nature is to be touched. But who wants to touch alien like skin that is more akin to scales? If we wanted that we could pet a lizard or a frog for that matter. The environment around us and especially the sun is a main factor in any damage to our skin. UV rays will burn and dry out our follicles leaving us with rashes, peeling and the like. Not to mention the risk you run of developing skin cancer from too much exposure to these rays. Taking the time to apply some sun block before heading out to start your day is the perfect preventative measure. Most sun blocks not only protect against UV rays but they work as a moisturizer as well. Leaving your skin soft and smooth as a baby’s skin.

Speaking of moisturizer it would be a good idea to apply one every once and a while. That and an exfoliate. Exfoliates are used to clean away any dirt and dead skin particles left over from the days tasks and applying a moisturizer afterwards will keep your skin from getting irritated and chaffing. Women have the most trouble with chaffing because of the way their bodies curve. Applying a lotion after your shower ladies, will help to prevent any painful chaffing. Plus, what better way to attract Prince Charming then with soft supple skin.

Taking the time to care for your skin does not mean hours in front of the mirror. A little bit of pampering after each shower or before you go to bed, along with taking the time to protect your skin from the elements, is all you need to achieve optimum skin care. This goes for both men and women. Don’t be wary guys of using a little lotion or sun block, it will in no way reduce your masculinity. It will however leave you feeling comfortable in your own skin so to speak.

When talking about moisturizer, it is equally important to be aware of the things that you use like soap, washing powder and the other chemicals used in your work place. The one’s which you feel would dry your hands should be handled by using gloves. This will help a lot in maintaining the skin beauty, remember beauty doesn’t restrict in your face it is applicable in your overall appearance from hair to toe. When talking about legs, always make sure the feet is dry and is well maintained without any dirt before wearing footwear. This can help your leg look clean and fresh.

It is a common fact that excessive sun exposure can be damaging to your skin. However, cold weather can take its toll on your skin, too, especially if you have sensitive or dry skin. The lower temperatures outside, increased windiness and the fact you are turning up the thermostat in your home can all make your skin chapped, flaky, blotchy, dry and itchy.

During the summer, we are more prone to take care of our skin because of the constant need for topical relief measures such as sunscreen and insect repellent. However, the winter is the season when our skin actually needs the most extra care. To help your skin to survive the brutality of the season, keep in mind the following simple winter skin care tips:

1. Continue to use a sunscreen with SPF 15 or better. Although you may not feel it as much, the sun can be just as powerful when reflecting off the snow or while taking a long walk outdoors as it is on a summer day at the beach. A convenient suggestion is to use a moisturizer or foundation with a built-in sunscreen everyday.

2. Use a mild cleanser as opposed to soap, which can strip your skin of the essential oils it needs.

3. Though you may not be as thirsty as during the summer, continue to drink lots of water to provide the necessary hydration to your skin.

4. Avoid products with high alcohol content, heavy perfumes or other additives that can irritate your sensitive, dry skin.

5. During the cold weather, you might want to try using a thicker, richer moisturizer, two to three times per day, to help your skin to adequately replenish the moisture it loses.

6. Gently exfoliate your skin to remove the dead surface skin cells than can form due to excessive dryness.

7. Remember your lips are also part of the skin on your face so use a soothing lip balm or moisturizing lipstick, preferably with a sunscreen.

8. Try to keep an anti-itch cream on hand to apply to excessively dry patches that occur despite taking the above suggestions, so that you can moisturize these tender areas to avoid scratching and prevent infection.

By taking a few common sense winter skin care precautions, you can be as happy and beautiful in the winter as you are during the summer.

A squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer is a type of skin cancer that usually results from a long term sun damage or exposure to ultra-violet rays to the skin. Squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer spreads gradually and also has the capacity to spread to tissues near the affected area such as the eye. The cancer can also spread to distant parts of the body in case, it is not treated on time.

The best and the only way to make sure if a skin growth is cancerous is to go for a biopsy. The process involves removal of a small section of the skin. Thereafter a pathologist analyzes it under the microscope in a medical laboratory.

Remember that a biopsy is not a process to remove cancer. It just works towards taking off the tip of the cancer.

In some cases the skin tends to heal once the biopsy is done as it grows over the cancer. However, this does not indicate that the cancer is removed completely. Here, the cancer is only covered with a blanket of skin. In case, the cancer is not removed fully, it can get deeper in to the skin and even metastasize to the internal organs of the body resulting in death of a human being.

Squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer is known to be one of the most common forms of skin cancer. It is shocking but true that over 25,000 new cases have been reported in a year in the United States alone. The cancer originates from the squamous cells that are most of the portion of the upper layer of the skin.

All cases of squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer are not serious. If detected early and treated promptly, one can easily survive this disease. However, if not treated properly, the disease can prove to be very hard to treat and can even result in disfigurement.

There are several causes of the origination of squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer. Some of these include the following:

i) Frequent and long exposure to harmful sun rays. This result in severe skin damage and ultimately develop in to squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer.

ii) The damage to the skin done by sun is the most responsible factor for development of this type of cancer. The face is most exposed to sun and the cancer spreads to the other parts of the body.

iii) Light skinned people have greater risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer.

iv) People who have already developed this cancer are said to develop more.

Chronic exposure to the sun is the main cause of this type of cancer. The tumor invades to body parts such as face, neck, bald scalp, hands, shoulders, arms and back that are more exposed to sun. The lower lip and the rim of the ear are more vulnerable to these cancers.

Squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer may also develop due to certain types of injury such as scars, burns, long existing sores, sites exposed to X-rays or some harmful chemicals, such as arsenic of by-products of petroleum. Reduced immunity is also one of the main reasons for the spread of this type of cancer. Detect and treat early to stay away from possible damage and full recovery.

With the thousands of skin care products clogging the market, choosing one that is appropriate for you can be mighty frustrating. With different ingredients and formulas, one can never know for sure what kind of product your skin longs for.

Although one can never really know for sure unless you try the products yourself, one of the things that can narrow down the search for the perfect skin care product is the skin care type. The skin care type refers to the kind of skin that you are born with.

There are actually four main types, the oily skin, the dry skin, the normal skin and of course the combination type. This is basically determined by the degree of oiliness and dryness of your skin.

As you will notice, some people are more prone to oiliness than others. Pore sizes also come into the picture. In choosing products, you need to know your type is so that you can buy products that fit you.

To determine what type you are, wash your face first and then wait for about 30 minutes. This will give your skin enough time to become active. After the 30-minute period, get a tissue paper and dab you’re the following areas of your face, the forehead, the nose, the chin and the cheeks. Oily areas will of course leave an oily mark on the tissue paper.

In normal skin type, there is a balance between water and oil. This is the type that is not dry but also not too oily. Often, the pore is medium in size. Lines and wrinkles are not as visible compared to people with dry skin. This is because this type of skin is more elastic and flexible.

Dry skin, on the other hand, will be course and rough. There will be mo moisture on the skin. This is the type of skin that is often prone to wrinkles and lines.

Oily skin is perhaps the most easily identified as it tends to shine. This is often a result of overactive oil glands, which produces too much. The danger of oily skin is the fact that it is more prone to acne and pimple problems.

This is because the oil can clog the pores and trap dead skin cells with hair follicles. Pores of oily skin are larger.

Combination skin, as the name implies, can have oily skin in some areas and dry skin on the other parts. Often, it is the T-zone, which is often oily. The T-zone consists of the forehead and the nose.

It would be nice if the television and magazine commercials stopped using 30 year old women to display the results of the anti aging skin care products. The fact that the models used in these advertisements makes it almost impossible to discern whether theses products are actually beneficial, or simply work on people who do not look a day over 30 to begin with. The chronic search for the right skin care product is costly, time consuming, frustrating, and can result in a cabinet full of product and an unhappy face staring back at us in the mirror.

Choosing the right skin care product based on the ingredients rather than the woman in the commercial is more likely to yield better results. SPF protection is vital in today increasing sun strength. While SPF products will not reverse the damage which has already been done, it will help to prevent future sun damage. SPF is a number which indicates how long you can stay in sunlight before skin damage starts to occur. Thus, an SPF 30 means that your skin can tolerate 30 times the normal time in the sun before enough UVA and UVB rays penetrate the lotion and begin to cause damage. The length of time is determined by the strength of the sun. Your anti aging skin care products should contain no less than SPF 20 for everyday living.

Emollients and natural moisturizing factors are vital in these products. These are basically the ingredients found in naturally healthy skin that can be derived from other natural sources. Applying these to the skin allows the skin to absorb the ingredients and then heal the damage that has been caused over time. Ingredients such as lanolin, mineral oils, plant oils, cholesterol, collagen, elastin, amino acids, lipids, and glycerin all help to heal the damage on a cellular level. While there are numerous other ingredients that can be beneficial, the basic idea is to stay away from chemically enhanced products and gravitate toward natural products. Natural products are going to cost more.

Skin care products that control free radical damage actually helps to decrease the risk of skin cancer as well as reduce the appearance of the signs of aging. These types of ingredients are going to look like the list of RDA nutrients on a cereal box, as most are vitamins or vitamin based. Vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, and green tea extract are the 4 top nutrients that help eliminate or reduce free radical damage.

One of the biggest and most ambitious goals of such products is reducing or eliminating wrinkles. Tightening and firming sagging skin is a serious effort. Ingredients such as palmitoyl tetra, copper, and palmitoyl pentapeptide are the three major ingredients for reducing or eliminating wrinkles as well as scars.

While there are other ingredients that can help eliminate the signs of aging, these ingredients should definitely be in every similar product before ever being advertised, sold, and presented as a skin care cream. Proper use of the proper ingredients has been proven to yield the desired results, however, just like the damage did not occur overnight, the damage will not be healed overnight. Patience is a must when attempting to shrink a few years from your face.

When you shop for an aromatherapy body lotion, or other skin care product, you might look at the label to see what it’s made of in the hope of determining how it will affect your skin. Yet, if you are like the rest of the population, you probably have little idea what those ingredients on the label actually do! Your next course of action may be to read the claims on the package. Unfortunately, as this article will teach you, you can’t always rely on these claims as there are few, if any, government standards and enforcement associated with them, which can create a problem for you, the consumer, particularly, as you will learn, if you are buying an aromatherapy skin care product.

Claim 1: Dermatologist Tested

This is a great claim that is made by beauty products to breed confidence in you, the user. For instance, it could say, “Tested by a dermatologist on dry skin.” Unfortunately, while this claim sounds good, it gives you really little useful information. To begin with, you wouldn’t have the faintest idea which dermatologist was responsible for the testing and analysis. Further, you most likely wouldn’t know the qualifications of said dermatologist. You could rightfully ask yourself, with no answer, “Did this dermatologist have experience with testing? Was she well educated? “ Also, you wouldn’t have the foggiest what said dermatologist actually tested for. Finally, without a huge amount of research, if it were even possible, you couldn’t tell who funded the tests. If the consumer product company that manufactured the skin care product you are looking to buy paid for the testing, it would be difficult for it to be an unbiased test.

Claim 2: Hypoallergenic Product

According to Dictionary.com, hypoallergenic is defined as, “designed to reduce or minimize the possibility of an allergic response, as by containing relatively few or no potentially irritating substances.” Unfortunately, there is no government enforced or encoded standard that a company has to meet to make this claim. This is made more troubling with any aromatherapy skin care product. That’s because any such product contains essential oils, which, when applied to the skin, can cause severe reactions in certain people, assuming they have an allergy to the particular essential oil in use.

Claim 3: Laboratory Tested

Like Dermatologist Tested, Laboratory Tested provides little value. You’d have neither knowledge of the lab’s qualifications, nor what it tested for. For example, the laboratory might not have tested for an allergy that you have, which is, again, particularly troublesome when buying an aromatherapy skin care product. Additionally, without knowledge of who funded the test, you couldn’t tell how impartial it was.

Unfortunately, given the complex ingredients found in skin care products, you often have to rely on the benefits and claims made by the manufacturer. But, as you learned, claims including Dermatologist Tested, Hypoallergenic, and Laboratory Tested offer little meaning for you. Consequently, it’s important that you not only research the product online, but also, if concerned, ask your doctor about it. Let’s face it, your skin is important, which is why you are willing to pay for expensive aromatherapy body lotion or other specialized skin care products. So, to keep your skin looking nice, research your products before you buy and apply.

Who wouldn’t want to have a smooth, flawless skin features? Everyone, particularly women, is crazy about having a beautiful skin. That is why so many beauty treatments and products are widely available today to meet the increasing demand of beauty fanatics for means that can give or help them maintain their young and gorgeous skin.

The Three skin types, which are normal, oily and dry skin, require proper skin care recommendations, as each type has different reactions with various skin enhancement treatments and products.

It is not good to allow the skin to be oily, but it is also not a good idea to allow the skin to be too try either. Keeping a healthy balance between oily and dry is what will keep your skin looking beautiful.

Oily Skin

Oily skin Oily skin needs to be frequently hydrated and oil free. If you happen to have an oily skin, you must wash your face at least two to three times a day. Regular treatments for acne are also a must. As for recommended skin care products, a mild soap and moisturizer are perfect for oily skin. Masks are also great moisturizing options for their hydrating and drying ingredients. It is best to apply such facial mask once or twice a week to keep the face well hydrated.

Dry Skin

If the skin does not stay properly moisturized, it will dry out. It is necessary for the skin to retain some of its natural oils in order to stay moisturized. The moisturizer will form a “film” over the skin keeping the skin’s natural oils in.

Normal Skin

Normal skin Lucky are those gifted with normal skin as it is the least problematic type. However, a normal skin feature still needs to be regularly moisturized, nourished, and cleansed. Top recommended treatment for natural skin is washing the face with rose water or an alcohol-free astringents. Moisturizers for this type of skin condition should be mild and non-greasy. Always wash your face before going to bed, using a mild soap, then finishing it off with a nourishing cream.

Cosmetics, cosmecueticals (ways of treating the skin and making it look nicer by applications that act like pharmaceuticals) and other beauty aids of the same ilk may well be effective when it comes to anti-aging skin care. However, they may be quite expensive and do they really get to the root cause of premature ageing and skin disorders such as acne, spots, psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis?

Let me put it like this. You put your car into a garage because it’s not running well. The mechanic carefully beats the bonnet into a nicer shape, paints over it, then re-lacquers the surface and finally gives it a nice waxy sheen. He then tells you your car has been fixed. Indeed you are delighted with the look at it and you drive away from the garage a satisfied customer. …Until you find that the fault still persists.

This of course is an absurd way of dealing with the car problem because the mechanic never got to the underlying root cause: that which is below the bonnet, the engine! This is an analogy that can be likened to the way in which many people are being treated for anti-aging skin care and skin disorders. ‘The route cause of the problem lies beneath the skin!

Taking care of the underlying root causes.

Whether it’s through premature ageing or by disorders, poorly skin can manifest a result of:

1. Poor nutrition 2. Toxicity 3. Stress 4. A lack of exercise

So anti-aging skin care and the prevention of disorders can be very effectively handled by.

Good Nutrition

-Take foods containing plenty of vitamin C. This has the effect of forming good connective tissue, which is capable of preventing wrinkling and is immune system building for fighting infection.

– Get a good supply of omega-3 fats. This is found, for example, in fish oils or flax seed oils. Be very sure to get a good quality supply, such as cod liver oil. Omega-3 helps to keep skin fats normal and retains moisture. This is a good way to prevent inflammation; skin cracking and helps prevent disorders such as acne, spots, psoriasis, dermatitis and eczema.

– Eat a range of fresh fruits and vegetables, preferably organic. Nuts are good for the skin, since they are rich in vitamin E. Remember, vitamins, enzymes and minerals act synergistically and all serve to effectively slow down the ageing process and prevent skin disorders.

-Keep insulin levels reasonable constant. Don’t let them fluctuate too much by meal skipping or overeating…

-Get around 10-15 minutes of sunshine a day.

Avoid

-Junk food. It causes ageing and body toxicity. Junk food, for example, is capable of giving rise to oily skin: The sebaceous glands produce sebatin during toxicity. They then get clogged up with dead skin and micro-organisms, resulting in pimples and spots. Don’t ever underestimate the potential damage that junk food is capable of.

Toxicity

-Avoid environmental toxins. Use chemical-free lotions.

-Smoking. This causes free radical damage to the surface of the body’s cells, or the DNA or RNA inside. This can lead to ageing or serious illness.

Stress

-Look into ways of managing stress.

-Sleep well

-Avoid tensions, particularly around the facial muscles. Acupuncture is a good form of making the facial muscles relax for reversing the ageing process.

Exercise

-About half an hour a day is recommended.

Getting ready for that next vacation? Are you packing the bags and trying to decide what to take – especially when it comes to skin care? There is no need to despair. You can look fabulous during this vacation season with a few simple techniques and reminders. Here are some tips to get your skin ready for a relaxing time away from home – and to keep the cosmetic bag as light as possble.

A little makeup magic to make breakouts disappear

The right makeup and application technique can camouflage the redness that accompanies acne. To help counteract the redness in the skin, apply green based primers first and follow this up with a non comedogenic or mineral makeup matching your skin. A light dusting of powder would be great for the finish. At the end of the night, do remember to clean up all traces of makeup from your face.

Teen boys and men can use tinted acne medications. The flesh tinted products will help to tone down redness and naturally blend into the skin.

Ultra dry skin

If you have a dry or flaking skin, even the best makeup will look unattractive. During winter months, dry skin is common. Use oil free moisturizers to ward off dryness and keep your skin soft and supple.  Skin care for working women has a tendancy to either be on the oily or dry side.  Working in office environments or outside can either lead to dryness or increased sebaceous gland oil production.  Spending time away from work on vacation can bring these problems to the forefront.  This is a good time to focus on fixing or addressing these problems.

Clothing colors

Carefully choose your clothing colors. Reds certainly look festive during the holiday season, but if you have acne, this may not be the color for you. If you have a red shirt and skin that is already inflamed, it can intensify the redness of the skin. Red based colors like pink, burgundy etc also have the same characteristics. To keep the redness of the skin under check, green, silver, or gold can be equally festive in appearance.

Holiday stress

Stress is a common occurrence during the holiday season, particularly with the number of obligations cropping up around this time of the year. But, stress can also sometimes worsen your acne problem. A happier holiday season can be ensured by managing stress and if you can make it a point to soothe tension that would also help ward off an increase in breakout activity of your acne. Managing stress would also enhance the quality of your holiday since a stressed out mindset can potentially create avoidable problems in your holiday mood.

Pimples

Even during holidays and vacation, pimples can happen. The best way is not to stress about them and instead obtain spot treatment products that contain salicylic acid or sulfur. These ingredients can greatly help in speeding up healing of the blemish and bring down inflammation. A treatment mask containing these ingredients can also be helpful. They soothe the skin, calm inflammation and speed up healing.

Keeping your complexion fresh, clean and clear is a top priority when traveling.  Vacations and holidays are meant to be relaxing.  Ease your skin care concerns with a few well targetd treatments and enjoy your time-off.

Natural Skin Care – A Recipe For Disaster?

When we see the preface “natural” before the words “skin care”, it tends to conjure up images of something “pure” or “as nature intended”. But, in this world of extreme hype, the word “natural” has now taken on a very different meaning and it can well be interpreted as “excuse to charge more” or “beware – hype at large”.

In the multi billion dollar industry of skin care, our scepticism is sometimes well justified. What we want, after all, is something that’s natural, wholesome and jolly good for us! And it’s got to be a product that doesn’t contain those nasty artificial additives or chemicals.

But, as things stand, the manufacturers still have enough license to produce products and market them with enough spin to encourage us to think that they are as “nature intended” but, in reality, it’s the clever marketing that give us messages that are powerful by implication.

Let me digress here for a moment and share with you a couple of examples of this type of marketing power that have reared their heads recently in our household.

My husband could not start the day without his two slices of toast with lashings of peanut butter. Last week, he saw a new brand of peanut butter advertised as “made from whole peanuts” and he made a point of writing this on our shopping board in the kitchen – to be honest, I was never sure if he knew we had a shopping board, let alone write on it!

But, ever-loving wife that I am, I searched out this new brand of super peanut butter but didn’t buy it as it was almost 50% dearer than the usual store brand that I’d been buying for years. He was a little dismayed and protested that the new brand is made from whole peanuts – that’s why it’s dearer… (No wonder he’s a highly successful and super charged business consultant!)…. I asked him what he thought the usual brand of peanut butter was made from – recycled cardboard?

He’d only seen what the marketing boys wanted him to see and he hadn’t given it a moment’s thought. He had been sold by implication.

Another great example of this is the TV campaign that’s on at the moment for “filtered milk” – gets you thinking, doesn’t it? Have I been putting this non-filtered muck on my corn flakes every day for the last umpteen years? I could have been seriously ill – go get two quarts of the filtered stuff, immediately!

And so it is with natural skin care. It’s the implication that you’re buying the most natural, the most effective product you can possibly buy – all geared to our dream of looking good. I recommend that you take a close look at the list of ingredients of the product and research the active ones to check on the potency you need for the best effect.

You may find that the product does indeed include “Wonder Plant Extract” but that it’s such a minute amount that it will be of no effect. It’s easy to be duped and have your dreams shattered – so take care and choose your products carefully.

One of the most common precautions when it comes to skin care is avoiding too much exposure to the sun. As you may know, over exposure to sunlight causes sunburn. So, while current sun blocks only block out the UVB rays and still let in harmful UVA rays, it is still wise to cover up before venturing into the hands of Apollo.

Tip 6: Exercise

Aside from considering a healthy diet, exercising your body also helps keep your skin healthy. Note that a proper exercise does not only keep the body fit by regulating the oxygen; it also improves the glow of the skin as well.

Our skin is very important to us and we should not compromise its health. This is especially true in this day and age where more and more toxins are present in the air than ever. We are exposed to harsher conditions, punishing sunlight and contaminated air – and while it is doing damage to the ozone, it is also slowly eating away at the skin. For others, the effect might be a little more accelerated than others and that is why science and the pharmaceutical/cosmetic industry has stepped in with an answer – a temporal reprieve to the problem. Skin creams can give you clearer youthful skin, combating the effects of a more tarnished atmosphere as well as giving you the power to turn back the hands of time for a little while by making those wrinkles and fine lines disappear. Here are some tips you need to know about to keep your skin looking young and healthy at all times.

Always have a moisturizer handy, because dry skin is the number one villain of healthy looking skin and overly dry skin can actually fissure painfully and bleed out, leaving unsightly scabs and scars all across the skin. Constantly moisturizing your skin will ensure you this will not happen. Also, you need to have a light skin cleanser – one that you can use for both your hands and your face. This helps to remove the dirt, grime and even light soils from the pores of your skin. Cleaners not only keep skin looking clean, but they prevent a lot of other problem from cropping up with long-term use. Dirt and grime stuck in the follicles can lead to an infection, which will turn up as an unwanted acne or pimple. And that is just social death for anyone in this world we live in today.

You should also be in the know about some of the key ingredients used in many skin care products – especially if you insist on buying those which do not use synthetic chemicals at all. The popular ingredients can include the soothing Aloe Vera or even the highly hydrating avocado fruit. Some of these creams employ the use of olive oil, strawberries and even garlic root extracts to stimulate moisture, act as an antibacterial formula as well as using the natural vitamins within to repair damaged skin and keep it looking healthy. A quick look would reveal to you the variety of skin care products that tout the one stop solution for clearer youthful skin. Experience would denote that there is no one solution, but several ways for you to always get that glow you want.

Smart shoppers always have a bag with several creams and lotions in it, and this is because they prefer having focused products, rather than an all in one diluted solution that may be a jack of all trades but master of none. As always, I will end my article with a reminder – nothing beats eating fruits and vegetables everyday. What you put inside you is just as important as the stuff on the outside. Combine the two and you will get a platinum skin care solution – a first class guide to clearer youthful skin.

Men, just as much as women, need skin care products to make themselves feel good about their appearance, making them more attractive to the opposite sex. Aside from that, men take good care of their skin so they will feel more confident at work and at play.

Although both men and women pay attention to their physical appearance, men primarily groom themselves for hygienic purposes. When women are worried about any pimple marks or blackheads, men usually encounter burns or reddish dots after shaving. That is because not all men are educated with the proper skin care tips, such as what kind of products to use after shaving.

For example, some men just shave their mustache or beards without even applying an alcohol-free shaving cream or applying moisturizer right after shaving. Some men only consider a bar of soap as their primary grooming tool to clean their face and their body.  In reality however, experts suggest that men also get a facial. The reason: men also get as much dirt as women, like getting blackheads. Men can also use other skin care products like a facial mask if they are uncomfortable being treated in a spa or skin salon.

Men also experience having pimple breakouts due to oily skin. They may also experience having dry skin because of the regular bar soap they use for the face. One of the best skin care tips: use a foaming cleanser instead of a regular soap for the face. The reason for this is that the soap can actually remove the natural amount of oil that gives moisture to the facial skin.

Grooming the skin is not just for females but for males as well. Menâ??s skin care is just as important as cleaning â?? it also encourages right grooming and hygiene.

Skin is your largest and most visible organ since it covers the entire body. Having attractive, healthy skin starts from the inside and reflects on the outside. The first step towards taking proper care of your skin is to determine what type of skin you are in right now. The American Academy of Dermatology acknowledges several different types of skin. Your skin type can also change depending upon certain internal factors, such as health problems, hormonal imbalances or taking certain medications.

The following are guidelines to help you identify your particular kind of skin and choose products with all natural skin care ingredients that are suitable for it:

Normal: This type of skin is neither exceedingly dry or oily and usually has no blemishes or discolorations. Natural treatments include chamomile, cypress, camphor, rose, lavender, rosemary, sweet almond oil, grape seed and soy.

Dry: If you skin is flaky, ashy, and tight but lacking in elasticity, you have dry skin. Herbal remedies include orange, jasmine, carrot seed, avocado, calendula, rose hips and rice bran.

Oily: Skin that appears slick or shiny with enlarged pores is considered oily. A tissue rubbed against this skin will have oily residue on it from all areas of your face. Helpful herbs include lemongrass, peppermint, thyme, cedar wood, geranium, patchouli, hazelnut, olive and refined coconut oil.

Combination: If you have combination skin, your forehead, chin and nose are oily and there are dry patches near your hair and jaw lines. When you rub a tissue on your skin and only the “t-zone” areas around your forehead, nose and chin yield oily residue, then you surely have combination skin. Holistic solutions for combination skin include ylang ylang, rosewood, sweet orange, jojoba and apricot.

Acne-prone: Skin with enlarged pores that is disposed to clogging, blackheads, whiteheads, cysts and redness is acne-prone. Herbal remedies such as tea tree oil, manuka, basil, mint, grapefruit, coriander, lime, hazelnut and grape seed are often used for acne-prone skin.

Sensitive: This type of skin is often blotchy and prone to redness, rashes and irritation. Natural treatments with rose, jasmine, carrot, almond, sesame, calendula and jojoba have been effective and are usually non-irritating.

Water is another simple, all natural skin care solution for people with all types of skin to keep hydrated. Experts have found that healthy skin is promoted by consuming water equal to half of your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you would drink 75 ounces of water a day for maximum health benefits. Furthermore, the simplest and most effective skin care regime includes a using a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen all year round.

By figuring out your individual skin type, you can incorporate all natural skin care products into a simple routine to enhance the health of your skin so that you can look and feel your best everyday.

Skin is the largest organ of the body. Healthy, beautiful skin is possible to achieve, but elusive to many. Good, basic skin care can help prevent many wounds. Good skin care involves regular cleansing with a gentle skin cleanser. Regular cleansing should be performed on an “as needed. Cleansing is a critical daily skin care step. It removes the dust and dirt that chokes the pores on the skin. Most people do this 2-3 times a day; this is adequate for normal skins. But,for oily skin type a more frequent cleaning is very essential-even 4-5 times a day, using either a soap or some kind of cleansing agent. Most cleansers contain oil, water and ‘surfactants’. The oil dissolves oil on your face, surfactants dissolve dirt and makeup and the water washes it all away.

There are several alternatives to soap and water cleansing- creams, milks, lotions, foams, oils, gels and liquids. Avoid bar soaps as they tend to dry out the skin. A cotton pad doused in fresh milk is a cheap but equally effective cleanser. Exfoliation is the step most people skip in their weekly skincare routine. Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells, which cause the face to look dull. The build up of dead cells can also contribute to blockage of the pores causing acne. Facial scrubs help clean the surface of the skin by removing the dead skins and the dirt mechanically. European women have been using exfoliants for decades. Skin exfoliation is suitable for greasy or normal skin, but should be used with caution on dry or sensitive skin.

There are several ways to exfoliate skin: Microdermabrasion, chemical peels and retinoids. Scrubs work by removing the top layer of dead skin cells that tend to dull your complexion. If your skin is sensitive, use a synthetic puff or natural sponge. Men are exfoliating their faces every day by shaving. The razor removes the top layer of dead cells every day. Toning the skin helps remove any leftover cleanser or make-up that may have been left behind. A toner also helps restore the natural pH level of the skin, leaves your skin clean, clear and ready to be hydrated. Toners not only cleanse the skin further and help in removing any remnants of particles that you may have left behind but also cools, nourishes, hydrates and freshens up your skin.

It tightens up skin and close up any skin pores that may have opened up while deep cleansing the face. Toners must be alcohol-free as alcohol dries off skin. Toning close the pores, tighten the skin, and keep it from being exposed to many of the toxins that are floating in the air or other environmental pollutants. Sunscreens protects the skin from any form of sun damage, wrinkles, sunburns or rashes. Facials help moisturize and massage the skin. Homemade facials are good quick fix solutions to pamper the skin with almost no side effects. Exercise, Facial massage and a healthy diet regime can complement your skincare routine and help the skin look healthy and nourished always. Good moisturizer helps the skin to balance and restores any damage that might have occurred to it overnight.

I will begin this blog about natural beauty and how to make organic skin, face and hair care products that you can make to keep you and especially your skin, face and hair in optimum health by giving you an overview on how your body functions and what is meant by you being healthy. Without this information, many of you will be lack the basic knowledge as to what you should be doing to improve or maintain your overall health and your skin health.

The health of your body is determined by the collective health of every one of its cells. The healthy functioning of the cells is directly related to the following core healthy molecular materials used to build cells: 1. Oxygen; 2. Carbon; 3. Hydrogen; and 4. Nitrogen. All foods are made up of these four basic elements. Combined with these core elements in your food are many inorganic minerals such as sodium, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, chlorine, etc. These core elements and the inorganic minerals are metabolized by our cells in order to build tissues. The tissues are used to build organs, the organs are used to build core systems like the immune system and your skin, and these systems are used to build the body.

The body consist of well over 100 trillion cells. These cells interact in multiple ways to handle multiple cellular processes that control the cells environment, reparation, communication, transportation, policing, performance, pH balancing, medical needs and nutrition as well as toxic and waste (including free radicals) removal. Even if you are eating the perfect diet for your body type and avoiding any toxins in your environment, the acidic waste generated through metabolism needs to be constantly flushed from your body through your key organs. For example, the kidneys remove neutralized waste salts, uric acid, ammonia, the lungs take carbonic dioxide out from carbonic acids making your blood more alkaline and your skin uses perspiration to dispose of acidic waste products. Therefore any ss long as you are providing your cells with a healthy stress free environment, nourishing foods, clean water and air, and bathing your skin in biodegradable organic soaps and shampoos and moisturizing with organic oils for your skin and hairs, your body will have all that it needs to continue functioning properly including the disposal of all waste products in your body.

Of the trillions of cells in your body, they can be grouped into about 200 different types that require 90 plus nutrients to produce the hormones, peptides, neurotransmitters and other materials required for cellular renewal and the proper functioning of the body. The types of cells range from stem cells, blood cells and blood cells, to heart cells, spleen cells and muscle cells through to brain cells, eye cells, skin cells and nerve cells. Each cell performs its own unique functions that combine with other cells to provide synergistic choreography and orchestration of all the bodys functions. The different cells have a different half-lives. This means that your body is constantly renewing itself throughout your lifetime. Your skin which is the bodys largest organ is replaced every 21 to 28 days, your heart is renewed every 8 months, a new liver every 5 months, and your blood every 90 days. In the case of your bones because of the nature of the matrix being very hard (consisting of Vitamin D, calcium, boron and oesteoclasts) it renews every 7-10 years. The key thing to remember is that the quality of the renewal of all of your cells is dependent on the quality of building materials you have provided in the forms of nutrients (i.e. amino acids, carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phyto-nutrients, sunshine, oxygen and water) and/or toxins that you have provided. If it is nutrient rich and not lacking in essential nutrients, then the regenerated body will be stronger than the original. If it is nutrient poor (i.e. missing key nutrients) and/or high in toxins, it will be weaker than before and will continue to worsen unless you make changes in your diet and environment.

To give you an idea of how this translates, consider that 10 to the power of 12 cells or 1% of your body mass needs to be regenerated every day. If you are providing nutrient poor materials and toxins to your body, this regeneration will not take place. Instead your bodys own proteins will endanger your life since after metabolism, many become free floating providing an environment for poisonous and fungal infections to grow on them. The toxins and wastes will accumulate in your body creating an anaerobic environment that is hospitable to fungus, bacteria, cancer cells, etc.

This accumulation of waste in and around the cells is what causes aging in the body. The most ready measure any person can do to have an indication of their state of overall health is to measure the pH of their urine and saliva in the morning. This is because pH is a controlling factor for hundreds of enzymes in the body for digestion, assimilation of nutrients and the production of energy in the cells. When your body is in a healthy state, you saliva pH should be 6.2 to 6.4, your urine pH should be 5.5 to 6.0. This would indicate that your blood pH is probably around it ideal measure of 7.30 to 7.45. If your pH level is below these ranges, your body is overly acidic most likely indicating a deficiency of potassium, magnesium, calcium, trace minerals as well as possible high pulse rate. To give you an idea of how long cells can continue to thrive when they are kept in a nutrient rich environment free from waste products, a French physiologist, Alexia Carrell kept a chicken heart alive for about twenty-eight years in a saline solution containing minerals in the same proportion as chicken blood. He kept the extra cellular fluids constant and disposed of the cellular waste products daily by changing the fluid. Its only when he stopped changing the solution did the heart cells die.

If you have been allowing toxins and waste to accumulate in your body, your health will start to be compromised, you will find yourself getting sick and your bodys built-in compensating mechanisms will be activated to compensate by neutralizing and excreting acidic toxins and waste from the blood, cells, lymph and tissue fluids. The eight compensating mechanisms are: 1. Increased Oxygenation through respiration; 2. Pulling Amino Acid reserves from intra-cellular amino acids; 3. Pull in high pH body fluids from the lymph and saliva; 4. Pulling High pH Electrolytes from bones, teeth and muscles, 5. Excrete acids through the bodys elimination systems such as the skin, colon, urinary tract and respiratory system; 6. Manufacture High pH Bicarbonate Ion from CO2 for diffusion into blood plasma; 7. Push Excess Acids to outer extremities away from vital organs (in terms of your skin this leads to dermatitis and joints and fingers rheumatoid arthritis); and finally 8. Dumping Acids into the Blood and Vital Organs. If number 8, happens, you body is in trouble because it means that your bodys pH is in deep in the acidic range and dependent on the nature of your cellular weakness and genetic makeup, this can lead to one of a number degenerative diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic degenerative diseases.

When you are ill, it can be down primarily to either nutrient deficiency, exposure and/or accumulation of toxins in your body, and finally the accumulation of waste in your body. So logically the key to restoring yourself to full health is to not just directly attack the virus or bacteria since the low pH is your body creates an environment hospitable to virus and bacteria, but also to eliminate the toxins and waste (i.e. detox) and at the same time to provide the proper nutrients to your body (i.e. change your environment, change your diet and change what you products you put on your skin, face and hair). When you restore the proper environment for cellular regeneration, a number of positive things happe
n: 1. The virus, bacteria or malignant cells die off because the majority cannot survive in the healthy aerobic environment – this is especially the case with cancer cells which can only survive in an anaerobic environment (Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize for this discovery); 2. Your immune system is able to properly defend your body against these invaders; 3. Your energy levels go up as your body has the nutrients required for cellular regeneration and is no longer needs to using energy for the various compensating mechanisms to neutralise acidic toxins and waste, leaving your body with more energy.

So how does this relate to your skin? In further blogs in this series, you will discover that ill focus on providing you with information that will allow you to provide all the nutrients that your skin, face and hair needs as well as information on the dangerous levels of toxins found in many common skin, hair and facial products. Once youve eliminated these toxins from your body by detoxing and changing from the majority of toxic products one finds in most stores to biodegradable organic products that you can make yourself, your skins appearance will improve as well as your hair and face.

The importance of an effective skin care cannot be undermined for either men or women. It plays a huge role in our success and happiness. This article shall guide you on what are the building blocks of the best skin care for men.

Men skin care issues generally revolve around anti aging and how to reverse the signs of aging. The key to both of these lies in countering the causes of skin aging right at the roots.

The best skin care for men should include these 3 essential things –

– natural moisturizers to keep the skin well hydrated and to make up for the natural moisture that gets lost during the course of the day.
– emollients to soften the skin and soothe inflammation and irritation.
– natural antioxidants to counter free radical damage.

The major cause of skin aging symptoms to appear is the slowdown in the natural production of collagen and elastin in the body. These are the youth giving skin proteins that help to keep the skin firm, pliant, supple and elastic.

And as we age through our twenties and early thirties, the body gradually produces less of these vital structural proteins. This is what gives us wrinkles, saggy skin, fine lines, old age spots and dark uneven skin complexion.

Our skin begins to lose around 1.5% of collagen every year from the time we enter the early thirties. And it’s clear that we do not have to lose 100% of our collagen for wrinkles and fine lines to show up.

The best skin care for men should consist of cutting edge natural ingredients like Cynergy TK. It is unique in its role as a skin rejuvenator as it enhances the natural production of collagen and elastin by the body itself. This helps the skin to repair and renew itself just like it did in its younger days!

With a greater production of collagen and elastin, the skin becomes firmer and more elastic. Wrinkles and fine lines start to disappear naturally and you feel as if the young days are back again!

Cynergy TK significantly improves the skin’s moisture retention and elasticity. Clinical trials on human volunteers revealed that moisture retention improved by 18% and elasticity improved by 42% in a period of 18 days. This way it works as an amazing skin moisturizer in the best skin care for men.

It also soothes inflammation and irritation naturally as it is rich in functional keratin, which is one of the primary structural skin proteins.

Cynergy TK is rich in enzymatic antioxidants which are much more superior in their action on free radical damage as compared to general antioxidants. While the general antioxidants lose one unit for each free radical that they neutralize, in the case of Cynergy TK, just one unit of enzymatic antioxidant unit is enough to neutralize millions of free radicals!

Visit my website to find out more of such amazing natural ingredients that you should look out for in the best skin care for men which can give you a young, radiant and attractive skin glowing with natural health.

Everyone wants to have smooth and beautiful skin. You can achieve this by gathering the following ingredients, and following the simple steps below. It’s simple and takes little time.

In fact there are many useful for skin components in mineral water. Expensive thermal sprays can be changed with mineral water. Small drops of mineral water are like micro massage for skin and it moistens skin greatly. Sprinkle face with mineral water once a day. Especially it is useful in winter. If you have carbonated mineral water, you need to keep it opened for 30-40 minutes before using. If you like the idea to use mineral water, here you’ll find some recipes of nice masks for different types of skin.

The keys to beautiful skin are maintaining the skin’s acid mantle and a rapid turnover of skin cells that also rebuild damaged collagen and elastin to maintain strength, elasticity, and resiliency. This rapid turnover maintains ample levels of the water-holding proteoglycans and GAGs. The biocirculation (sometimes called the microcirculation) of capillaries and small blood vessels must constantly be renewed – damage to the microcirculation, which is common during aging, impairs nutrient flow to the skin – and produces the ‘graying” of skin associated with aging..

Vinegar has a tonic action that promotes blood circulation in the small capillaries that irrigate the skin. It is also antiseptic, preventing the proliferation of bacteria, viruses, or yeast that trigger infection. It can dissolve excessive fatty deposits at the surface of the skin and reduce scaly or peeling conditions. Lastly, vinegar regulates the pH of the skin. Vinegar is most effective when used with lavender, rosemary, rose, or elder flower. It is essential to use top-quality white wine or cider vinegar. Dry any fresh plant material for two days before using.

Best Natural Remedies for Beautiful Skin

Eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits, vegetables and leafy green. Good nutrition is the basic building block of healthy skin.

Drink plenty of water every day. (I fill a carafe to remind myself.)

Treat your skin gently: Don?t pull, scratch or scrub your skin harshly. Be very gentle when you clean it, moisturize it or makeup on it beauty skin care. This will lessen the chance that you’ll damage your skin and get wrinkles.

Wear Sunscreen, even on cloudy days and in winter. Use a good-quality, high-SPF sunscreen. Sun damage is the single most important cause of premature aging.

Beauty sleep: ‘Getting your beauty sleep’ is not a hyped notion of divas. Your skin actually rejuvenates itself while you sleep. A good eight hour sleep is a ‘doctor’s prescription’ if you want to look fresh and beautiful in the morning. Sleep deprived skin looks sallow, dull and tired and the eyes get puffy.

Grind one small carrot and squeeze the pulp to remove the juice. Apply the juice on your face and let it dry. Then, wash with cold water and wipe your face dry. This helps to rejuvenate your skin

Avoid getting chemicals like hair gel and sprays on your skin. They clog pores and can even harm the skin.

Use Facial masks: Facial masks helps a lot keeping a beautiful skin. It is a great beauty skin care. Find recipes for preparing your own facial mask here, Face masks.

Natural Skin Care Products Finally, look for natural skin care products that have certified organic ingredients in them. This may help in avoiding skin allergies, as many of todays products have toxins in them.

Clean Skin Is Happy Skin

One simple way to take care of your skin is to keep it clean. Keeping your hands clean is especially important because your hands can spread germs to the skin on other parts of your body.

When Washing Your Hands, use water that’s comfortably warm. Wet your hands, then lather up with a mild soap. You should lather and rub everywhere, including the palms, the wrists, between the fingers, and under the nails. Rinse well, dry thoroughly with a clean towel, and you’re done!

How to Take Care of Skin?

Our skin must be cleaned regularly in order to maintain a good complexion. Do you know that unclean skin favors the production of pathogenic organisms?

Yes, it happens. Unfortunately as we grown old, our skin ages and cause it to becomes thinner and prone to external damage.

If you want to live longer, you should start young and do something about it now. Living with skin cancer are not the best ways of living your life to the fullest as it will disrupts your lives. Nowadays, many skin care product have facial moisturizers with sun protection.

Sunscreen is the real fountain of youth. Get into the habit of applying sunscreen or a lotion with minimum SPF 15 to 30 protection daily. Remember the sun’s rays can still be damaging in winter months as it reflects off snow.

Washing your face with plain refrigerated yogurt every night makes most acne cases vanish within a few days. Yes I know that sounds weird but it works, truly!

Use homemade masks to moisturize your skin. They’re easy to make, and they really work!

Avoid direct heat on the face-including that from blow dryers.

Always use a mild, oil-based moisturizer under makeup to help retain surface moisture.

Guard against the drying, aging effects of the sun by using makeup products that contain a sunscreen.

Once every two weeks, stimulate the circulation and smooth the surface of the skin by using a nondrying mask.

Protect your skin with sunscreens. Avoid getting tanned. If you are under treatment for acne, consult your doctor about sun exposure as some medicines make your skin more sensitive to sun.

Do not pick acne. Trying to squeeze out blackheads or whiteheads may lead to further infection. Picking up acne at second stage may lead to scarring

Skin Type

Combination skin:

Most of us have this kind of skin, with an oily center area or a T-zone across the forehead, nose, and chin, and areas of dryness on the cheeks, and around the eyes and neck. Ideally, you should have one product for the oily areas and one for the dry areas, but this is expensive and unnecessary unless the areas of dry and oily are very different. It’s simpler to use a cleanser designed for combination skin. Use a skin cleanser for the central oily panel, diluted with water for the drier areas. The drier areas may or may not need moisturizing frequently. You may have to experiment a bit.

Best skincare routine for combination skin

The T-zone tends to need more attention than the drier areas of the face. Look for gentle cleansers and moisturizers that will work to keep it under control.

Look for cleansers suitable for combination skin. A deep-pore cleanser will help to keep the oily T-zone clear. In the summer, an antibacterial soap will help to keep bacteria in check and prevent problems in the T-zone.

Do you look older than you actually are? Do you want to attract the attention of a younger woman, but are worried of the puffy eye bags that make you look much older? Is you skin dry and rough? The right men skin care products are what you need to salvage yourself out of this situation.

And this article will show you exactly how to find them. After reading this article, you will easily figure it out how to re-achieve the young, attractive and healthy skin that you had in your youth days.

There are many ways in which a man’s skin is different than a woman’s like –

1) Firstly, men’s skin has a tendency to become swollen and red more frequently and easily. Skin inflammation is more common in men than in women.

2) Secondly, men are also more easily prone to dark circles and puffy bags beneath the eyes. This is because they produce more prostaglandin E2. Thus, when you look for men skin care products, look out for such natural ingredients that specifically cater to these two issues.

Cynergy TK is a natural ingredient that has been pioneered in New Zealand. It is very effective for its role in natural skin rejuvenation and anti aging. It blocks the production of Prostaglandin E2.

The unique role that it plays in anti aging is that it enhances the natural production of the two vital skin proteins called collagen and elastin in our body. These are the two youth giving proteins that give us a firm, supple, pliant and elastic skin.

As we age, the production of these proteins slows down in our body, which causes wrinkles, fine lines, saggy skin and age spots. So, a higher natural production of collagen and elastin gives us permanent freedom from all signs of skin aging – it prevents further skin aging and also reverses all effects of aging that have already taken place.

Although, the skin composition of men and women differ in some ways, they also consist of a lot of similarities. Like –

1) They are both affected similarly by harmful chemicals found in skin care products. A lot of hazardous chemical substances such as alcohols, parabens, dioxanes, mineral oils and fragrances are used a lot in men skin care products.

These cause widespread harm to skin and overall health in the form of skin allergies, irritation, redness, itching and inflammation. Parabens cause skin cancer! Fragrances cause anxiety, depression, hormonal disturbances and disruptions in functioning of central nervous system.

Alcohols cause excessive skin dryness and photosensitivity. Mineral oils cause acne eruptions, allergies and destroy the skin’s natural moisture balance. You should avoid these chemicals in all natural skin products for men that you purchase.

2) Another important similarity in the skin types of both men and women is that they both need vital nutrients like vitamins, minerals, calcium and antioxidants. This helps the skin to remain healthy and vibrant. It becomes capable to repair broken cells and sustain its normal functions and counter the damage caused by free radical damage.

An amazing natural ingredient in this regard is Phytessence Wakame. It is an extract of a special type of Japanese sea kelp. It is one of the best kept anti aging and skin rejuvenation secrets of Japan. It is rich in minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and calcium (its calcium content is 15 times greater than milk).

It does an amazing job in improving skin moisture retention and elasticity. It is also eaten as a food by the Japanese people. It helps in maintaining the balance of hyaluronic acid in the body and preserve youth and vitality. It gives creamy, smooth and radiant skin naturally.

Visit my website to find out more of such amazing natural ingredients that you should look out for in the best men skin care products. This would help you achieve a young, attractive and naturally glowing skin and make you much more interesting for the opposite sex.

Proper skin care is very important in achieving a beautiful makeup look. Start by cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your skin. This allows a nice palette with which you can then apply makeup. You´ll feel better about yourself too. It´s all about personal hygiene.

Most women are unsure what type of skin they are. How can you tell? First, ask yourself if you have any oiliness, dryness, or signs of aging. If you are oily all over, you are an oily skin. If you are oily in the T zone and dry on the cheeks, you are probably a combination skin. If you are moderately to extremely dry on the cheeks you are a dry skin. If you have signs of aging, more than likely you have a dry skin.

Once or twice a week you should incorparate a dedicated exfoliator into your regime. These work by sloughing off the top layer of (mainly dead) skin cells and encourage cell renewal. This will brighten up the complexion considerably making it feel very smooth.

Astringent : A clear liquid that lifts off that last layer of dirt from the skin, tightens the pores and neutralizes excess oil; to be used after cleansing, before applying the moisturizer. It usually contains alcohol which helps clean the skin and inhibits the growth of bacteria. It can also be used throughout the day to counteract any buildup of oil on the skin. A toner, used for the same purpose, does not contain alcohol. You can use either.

Toning is essential for removing the dirt, make-up and oil that cleansers fail to remove. Some people take this step as optional. But people with oily skin and combination skin can greatly benefit from toning. Because it acts as an extra step to eliminate oil, it also lessens the chances for pore blockage leading to acne.

Antiaging skin care has never been more important that it is to this generation. In a society that puts some pressure on our physical appearance, not necessarily in beauty alone, but in aging grace, both men and women are alike are finding the skin care products market to be a worthy place to spend their hard earned dollars. Advances in biotechnology and cell renewal have led to some amazing breakthroughs in treating conditions such as dark circles, crows feet eyes wrinkles, and many other aged skin conditions.

Unfortunately it can be difficult as there are multiple factors that can contribute to this condition. For example, genetics can play an important role in determining whether the skin color under our eyes is likely to become darker as we age. Also, it’s important to evaluate our sleep, eating habits, and lifestyle patterns for they can also lead to those ugly dark circles. One measure to analyze this evidence is the standard mirror test the morning after a late night out.

As we grow older the miniscule veins that lie just below the skins surface become more prominent and visibly noticeable and gives that raccoon-like appearance. That fact that these issues are caused by a persons lifestyle or genetics poses the question: Is there anything we can do to reduce the discoloration?

The answer to that question is: Yes. We may not be able to make the dark circles go away entirely, but some of the newly developed skin care products can improve the situation. Sagging, bagging, and lagging skin under the eyes is the single most annoying aging issue that can be greatly reduced with the right antiaging skin care product. They are typically caused by fat and fluids that form under the skin. Bags under the eyes are contributed to by some of the same conditions that cause the dark circles such as genetics or lack of sleep, but other things such as allergies and vitamin deficiencies may also play a role. The good news is the right skin care products can help reduce the outward appearance of both the dark circles and the bags under our eyes.

Finding the best antiaging skin care products for the eyes can be like an Easter Egg Hunt. You just have to keep looking. A good place to start looking for your antiaging eye cream is at a health food store as most of their products are natural skin care products that contain many natural ingredients like green tea, chamomile, Aloe Vera or grape-seed. When doing an Internet search for a skin care product that may suit you pay particular attention to the indredient profile to ensure that you are getting exactly what you want. Look for ingredients such as alpha hydroxyl acids, retinal, kinetin, and antioxidants. Many eye cream products are formulated to address all under-the-eye concerns – not just those dark circles and bags we hate so much; but also fine lines and wrinkles. The proper application for antiaging eye creams is to use a minimal amount on the index finger tip and patted into the skin. Never use your eye cream on your eyelid.

Before we close our discussion let’s look at a less appealing “fix” for both those dark circles and ugly bags – and that would be surgery. If you feel you have an extreme problem and have the time and money, surgery could be an effective resolution to both bags and dark circles. Laser therapy and blepheroplasty procedures have gained respectable appeal as of late. When considering this option, be sure to do a thorough check of the history and qualifications of the surgeon. In any case, surgery should only be considered after you’ve tried everything else.

People choose natural skin care products for acne, instead of those made from synthetic materials, because those that are synthetically made are known to cause more harm than good. Indeed, those made from natural ingredients are less likely to cause allergic reactions or make a person’s skin break out. Natural skin care products for acne are often the most appropriate choice for those who have sensitive skin and can’t withstand certain harsh chemicals used in some acne treatment products.

Finding natural skin care products for acne is not difficult, providing that you know what ingredients to look for in these products. Natural skin care products made for acne often consist of non-synthetic ingredients, and are mostly herbal or botanical. These natural skin care products are marketed in a way that they will appeal to consumers and acne sufferers who need acne care solutions without damaging synthetic ingredients.

Whether or not natural skin care products for acne are better than other kinds of acne treatment products depends on the formulation of the products, as well as how religiously the user follows their accompanying instructions. In addition, it is safest to use products recommended by skin care experts or dermatologists, as some products may be marketed falsely as effective acne treatment products.

Hygiene is one of the most important factors to any skin care regimen specifically for acne sufferers. Keeping the skin clean at all times and using non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic cosmetics can help keep acne at bay. Washing the face with a very mild facial wash or cleanser to remove any accumulated dirt before going to bed is a very effective means of deterring and eliminating pimples and other similar troublesome breakouts that plague acne sufferers.

Aside from acne treatment products that help people get rid of acne, natural skin care products are also available that keep the skin of the acne-prone person clean and healthy. These cleaning and toning products are effective in keeping breakouts at bay, and they are aimed at promoting healthy skin. And while many products out there are created for this purpose, some of them have certain components that can cause or aggravate acne.

This may be due to the clogging of the person’s pores or allergic reactions to one or two synthetic substances included in the formulation of these products. Natural skin care products for acne may still cause some of these reactions, but they are less likely to do so because they contain more natural ingredients.

Skin break-outs can be a downer? How we hate to have them, don’t we? But in this day and age; with the worldwide pollution and stress ever present, it’s kind of difficult to attain flawless skin. People often find choosing the right product suited for their skin very challenging. It would really be like going through a process of trial and error to come out with the right skin care product for you.

Here are some tips though to help you get along and not lose yourself in the tons and tons of skincare products advertised out there all claiming wonders. First of all, know the skin problem you’d like to address. Some skincare solutions may address just one problem or if you’re lucky, two or three. Here’s how to go about it.

- Pay particular attention to product information and ingredients.

The product must always have detailed information available and clearly explain how to use it. Now, some research may be required on certain ingredients, particular unfamiliar terms and elements that went into the formulation of the product. Who knows, an element or two my or may not really be suited for your skin requirements.

- Take a look at the manufacturer

If you want to get a good product for your skin then you should always take into account product reviews or their endorsements. Is the company a respected one with a good track record? Good products are most likely recognized by skin experts and professional organizations engaged in skin care health.

- Stick to the directions please.

When the product states “limit use to only a pea-sized amount,” or when it states “use twice a day” stick to it. Don’t tempt yourself to add more in the hope for faster results. There is a reason for everything.

Good skin care products should be made with natural ingredients. Formulas with aloe vera and vitamin E are good for a great complexion. Cleansers and creams should be gentle on skin. In choosing products for sensitive skin consider always the original product you have been using before you switch. If it works for you, stick to it. Avoid products that come with perfume. Limit your choice to products that are natural and does not contain harsh chemicals. Real aloe vera is a good choice in finding sensitive skin care products because aloe helps your skin in healing.

To keep pores unclogged apply moisturizer before putting make-up because it acts as a barrier of your skin and the make-up. Lastly consider that oil-based make-up tends to clog your pores so it is better to use water-based make-up.

No matter what type of skin you have, you should have no trouble finding a skincare line to suite your needs as long as you understand what different ingredients do. Always make a conscious effort to do a product research when needed. When it comes to taking care of our face, we need to give it a hundred and one percent tender loving and personal care.

For women and men skin care products should cover three basic principles; prevention, protection and individualized care.  Natural skin care for men can cover all of these concepts.  In fact, natural compounds and extracts are the best ingredients for the skinâ??s health.

Below, we briefly cover what to look for in men skin care products.  But, remember that skincare, like any other kind of healthcare, is a long subject and you can never have too much information.  Knowledge is the key to natural skin care for men.  This should be just enough to get you started down the road to healthier, better looking skin.

Prevention Principle

To prevent future problems, such as disease, age spots, blemishes and wrinkles, there are several things that we must do.  First, there are some things to avoid.  Overexposure to the sun and smoking do more damage than just about anything else.  But, some of the common ingredients found in women and men skin care products can also do damage.

You should always avoid harmful substances, such as irritants, allergens, toxins and carcinogens.  There is a long list of chemical ingredients that fall into those categories, so Iâ??ll only mention the most common ones; perfumes, preservatives and mineral oils.

Perfumes and preservatives are the two most common allergens, but many are toxic and some are known carcinogens.  Mineral oil and its derivatives include petrolatum, petroleum jelly, paraffin, liquid paraffin and paraffin wax.  If you look at many some so-called natural skin care for men, you are likely to see at least one of those ingredients.

The only preservative that should be included in women or men skin care products is natural vitamin E, but most companies use parabens.  If a parabens or fragrance is listed as an ingredient, donâ??t buy it.

Mineral oils found in men skin care products do more harm than good.  They inhibit skin regeneration, clog pores and lead to excessive dryness.

Protection Principles

In order to protect the deepest of the skinâ??s layers from damage, premature aging and disease, you need moisture, nutrients and protection from the sun.  Natural skin care for men should include all of these things, but Iâ??m not talking using sunscreen on a daily basis.  That can lead to vitamin D deficiencies.

If you will spend more than 15 minutes in direct sunlight on a given day, you should use a zinc oxide sun block.  Titanium dioxide has recently been listed as a possible carcinogen, but it is commonly found in natural skin care for men and women, because it is a naturally occurring substance.  To protect from the sun, men skin care products should include vitamin B-5 and coenzyme Q10.

For moisture, the best choices are vitamin E, essential fatty acids, grape seed oil and Babassu wax.  You can see that the use of these protective and moisturizing ingredients also supply nutrients.

Individualized Care Principle

If you have wrinkles, stretch marks, acne, psoriasis, eczema, excessive dryness, dermatitis or another condition, then you may need specific ingredients.  For example, the best natural skin care for men with dermatitis is a protein peptide, such as â??Functional Keratinâ?.  Thatâ??s a brand name.  Other forms of keratin are not as effective.

If you shop carefully and do a little research about the ingredients in a product, you will see that men skin care products can address all of the issues mentioned here, naturally.

To know what to look for in an antiaging skin care product, it’s important to understand what causes deterioration in the skin over time. All aspects of aging, including slack skin, wrinkles and uneven skin tone are the result of free radical damage at the molecular level.

Oxygen molecules are the bad boys of the antiaging world. When involved in a chemical reaction, they frequently lose one of their electrons and then dash madly about trying to steal an electron from another molecule. This can start a destructive chain reaction of unstable molecules, called free radicals, dashing around creating more unstable molecules.

Think of it like a radical mob building to riot force. Free radical damage is also known as oxidation. On metal, it appears in the form of rust. So when we say we are getting rusty, it’s not really far from the truth!

Fortunately skin has amazing regenerative abilities that help it repair damage up to a point. As well, nature has provided an anti-riot squad called The Antioxidants. Antioxidants are found in the human body and elsewhere in nature. They effectively block free radicals from getting to other healthy stable molecules.

But there are factors that can accelerate free radical damage to the point that the balance of power shifts in favor of the free radical mob. Current thinking categorizes the factors into: lifestyle (meaning where and how you live); the natural aging process; and genetics.

Some of these skin risk factors can be changed and some can’t. As time and science march on, the list of factors which can be mitigated grows longer and longer. Lifestyle changes are frequently possible if you know what to do and are motivated to make the changes.

Thanks to fairly recent scientific findings, the natural aging process of skin can be slowed and even reversed to some extent. That leaves only the genetic factors of skin aging that we are stuck with. At least for now.

UV protection, in the form of SPF creams, is the first topical step to take for your skin’s health. The second is moisturizing. The third step is assisting the fight against free radical damage with antioxidants. Steps four and five are skin care products that help remove old/dead/abnormal skin cells and those that promote normal skin regeneration. Many ingredients shown to accomplish this demolition and renovation are found in the latest generation of face creams.

In addition to antiaging treatments that support physical health and beauty, there are also antiaging skin care creams that address cosmetic concerns like adult acne, uneven skin pigmentation and lines of expression.

While no one dies from these conditions, it is widely accepted that if we look better, we feel better. So though treatments for these skin conditions are termed cosmetic , they frequently have a mental health benefit in that they support a healthy self-image and increased self confidence.

Everyone knows Coenzyme Q10, (or CoQ10) is a great ingredient to find in your skin care products. If you look on the label of your anti aging product bottles it’s almost obligatory to see Coenzyme Q10 listed.

That’s why it’s there, because everyone expects to see it there, so if they do it sells. But is it good to see Coenzyme Q10 listed in the ingredients?

Hard question to answer, because it’s not easy to say. Yes and no. It depends. And that’s why it’s not sufficient to assume that if Coenzyme Q10 is listed on the ingredients list that’s good. Because it depends on a number of things.

What is Coenzyme Q10 and what does it do? It is a substance that is naturally made by the human body and is essential for the proper functioning of our cells. It’s like a vitamin, or what is known as an anti oxidant, and as we get older our store of CoQ10 starts to decrease. As CoQ10 is important to our skin health this isn’t good. As an anti oxidant it helps protect our cells against damage by free radicals.

And as free radicals are important factors in the aging process, we need good stores of anything that help protect us against them.

And it helps our skin molecules to function properly, and produce substances like collagen and elastin, both essential to skin health as well.

Our supply of Coenzyme Q10 starts to deplete with age, and stress, and other lifestyle factors like poor diet. And in particular Coenzyme Q10 is depleted when our skin is exposed to UV radiation. Ie it’s exposed to the sun’s rays.

So if it helps protect our skin cells from free radical damage and also helps produce useful skin substances, wouldn’t it be good to see Coenzyme Q10 listed on the label of the skin care and anti aging products we use?

Not necessarily. There’s some problems. Even if it’s to be of use to us it has to be there in sufficient quantities, and often it isn’t. Secondly it has to be present in a form that can penetrate the skin. Even if there is sufficient quantities in the product it’s no use if it can’t penetrate the skin and get to where it can do it’s work.

Otherwise it just sits on the surface of the skin.

How have the best skin care and anti aging companies overcome this? By producing a special version of Coenzyme Q10 called Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. This is a type of CoQ10 that has tiny particle sizes that do get into the skin, and has been shown to increase the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin. This in turn has quite a significant effect on combating wrinkles.

And it can work it’s anti oxidant miracles once it’s got into your skin and can then help prevent skin damage.

Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10 is extremely expensive, but if it works then there will be companies that will use it to produce the best, and most effective, anti aging skin care products that money can buy. But as these companies don’t spend stacks of money on marketing their products are cost comparable to the other products you’ll find on the shelves that don’t contain Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10, and aren’t very effective.

But as they don’t spend stacks on marketing, chances are you’ve never even heard of them, even though they produce the best anti aging and skin care products in the world.

So no, it isn’t necessarily good to find Coenzyme Q10 in your skin care products, but it is good to find Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. But you won’t find it in mainstream skincare products on the shelves.

The skin care and anti aging industry is a huge industry, making massive amounts of money, and with some very successful companies involved. You’d assume that skin care products would be totally safe, and extremely effective wouldn’t you? But are skin care products totally safe and extremely effective?

Well there’s certainly some doubt about their effectiveness, but today I’m going to talk about safety.

You know the products I mean I’m sure. Mainstream skincare products that you see on the shelves every day. Anti aging products that are advertised to you on the television. Household names made by companies with high profiles. The first products you think about when you think anti aging or skincare, or even just simple things like moisturizers and face creams.

Here’s a few things that may surprise you. Did you know that the cosmetics and anti aging and skin care industry in the US is unregulated by the FDA or the US government in any way? That the skin care companies can put anything into their skin care products and cosmetics without it being tested for safety and established as safe for human consumption before they use it?

Here’s a quote from the cosmetic safety database at cosmeticsdatabase.com.

“Due to gaping loopholes in federal law, companies can put virtually any ingredient into personal care products. Even worse, the government does not require pre-market safety tests for any of them.”

Does it worry you that cosmetics companies can put anything they like into their products without first establishing that they are safe?

Do you believe that these companies have sufficient ethics and moral fiber to use only ingredients in their facial cosmetics and anti aging products that are proven safe?  Are there examples from history of companies putting profits before the safety of their customers?

What about the tobacco companies for example? Haven’t they spent years selling a product that is known to be deadly, and even tried to make out that it was safe when research showed clearly that tobacco was dangerous, purely because there was a lot of money to be made? And they are still doing it.

So do you really think that if a cosmetics company can make lots of money by putting a dangerous, or even suspect, ingredient into their cosmetics that they would do it?

Would it surprise you to know that some of the ingredients found in some common cosmetics and facial products like facial cleansers and moisturizers and anti aging products are suspected of causing cancer and at least one is listed by the State of California as a chemical known to cause cancer?

Would it surprise you that there is lead and/or mercury in some of your skin care products and cosmetics?

I have written about some of the specific chemicals in my squidoo lens, if you’re interested to find out more about just a few of the nasty ingredients of some of our common skin care products and cosmetics. There’s lots.

So, in conclusion, what do you think now? Should you worry about your skin care products? And are there skin care products that are safe, and effective?

Yes there are, but not from a company that you would have even heard of before.

Serious skin care starts with you. No doubt you’re used to using lotions and facial cleansers that claim to do world wonders, yet fail to deliver. Unfortunately a lot of these products are over hyped and just can’t do what they claim to do. In this article I’ll explain one of the fundamental, serious skin care tips that you can adopt in order to ensure healthy skin.

What most people don’t realise with skin care is it’s not just about splashing chemical after chemical on to your face and hoping that it stays young and smooth. Believe it or not the one thing that you can do to ensure your skin stays revitalised and healthy is to exercise. Yes you read correctly, exercise.

Did you know that your skin is an organ on your body, just like any other? Like with all our organ, they require care and maintenance. Exercise pumps the blood through our body and keeps our organs in a healthy state. If you want to get serious about skin care, then exercising may be just the thing you need to do. Many people dismiss exercising as a way to care for their skin because they wonder how it could possibly be related to skin care. The truth is, is that it’s related a lot.

Exercising to care for your skin starts, first and foremost, with the dedication to actually get outdoors, and the determination to do your best. Once you start jogging on a regular basis you’d be quite surprised at how easy it can become. You see when we’re exercising and the blood is moving through our body, our skin is able to receive elements of nutrients much quicker. If you just left your skin alone without caring for it, then it would dry out quite quickly. If you exercise on the other hand, then your body will be bringing these essential hydrating elements to your skin much faster.

So the lesson is this. If you want to start getting serious about skin care, then get serious about exercise. As odd as it may be to think that the two fields relate, why not give it a go for a couple of weeks? You’d be amazed to find that the odd jog may do leaps and bounds in order to ensure that your skin remains young, healthy and smooth. Serious skin care, like with anything, comes down to you. Start putting in the effort now, and you’ll reap the rewards later.

The world of skin care products has always been partial to females. But with the concept of â??metro-sexualityâ??, men are increasingly coming out of their shells and admitting to taking care of their skins.

And today there is a great collection of effective skin care products that cater to the mensâ?? unique skin requirements. Here is a list of skincare products that should find space in your skin care regimen:

Cleanser
A cleanser removes the bacteria, debris and oil residue from the skin. If you are someone who spends a good amount of time outdoors and â??sweaty,â?? â??greasyâ?? or â??dirtyâ?? is what best describes your face, then itâ??s a real essential for you. Also, try not to use body soaps on your face as they usually contain harsh chemicals and deodorants that can irritate your skin.

Use a cleanser that removes all the dirt from the skin surface without over-drying it.

Toner
Using a toner is an absolute must after the cleansing your skin. This is because the cleanser opens up the skin pores and removes all dirt and debris from within. The opened pores need to be closed or more bacteria enter it. A toner fills up all the skin pores and tones your skin all over.

Use a toner that includes Witch hazel and botanicals like aloe vera that will re-condition your skin and make it soft and smooth.

Scrubs
An exfoliating scrub removes all the dead skin cells from your face that clog the skin pores and cause acne breakouts. There is a range of menâ??s skin products that offer scrubs designed specifically for your skin type.

However, you donâ??t need to use it daily as then it may irritate your skin. Rather, do it twice or thrice a week.

Spot treatments
This is the most common of shaving problems. When you shave, some hair strands curl around and grow back underneath the skin. These ingrown hairs are painful and bumpy and susceptible for scarring and other skin infections. A spot treatment can resolve this problem and prevent further growth of inborn hair.

When picking up your spot treatment products, keep a watch for Alpha hydroxy acids that remove dry skin cells and stop the growth of hair underneath.

Aftershave
Be it lotion, cram or spray, applying an aftershave is a must after shaving. An aftershave moisturizes you skin, heals any cuts that may have occurred and leaves you with a lingering scent.

Choose an aftershave that best matches your skin type and has cooling properties. If you have sensitive skin, use products that are botanical or free of alcohol.

Moisturizer
Moisturizes keep your kin hydrated all day long. There are certain moisturizers that include sunscreens that keep your skin protected from the harmful radiations of sunlight. Also, since they are designed for specific skin types, they donâ??t have any side effects.

Those who have oily skins should choose a moisturizer that is oil free and is non greasy.

Open up your bathroom cabinet and take a look in your shower.  Are you currently using the best men’s skin care solutions?  You can tell by looking at the ingredients.

Shaving and Skin Care For men

If your shaving cream contains petrolatum, it is doing more harm than good.  If your aftershave is alcohol-based, it is damaging your appearance, as well.

In some ways, skin care for men, should be gentler than skincare for women. This is because shaving causes damage, irritation, redness and itching.  For a shaving lubricant, try plain grape seed oil, you can buy it at any health food store.  For aftershave, use witch hazel or a product that contains it.  Some I know use almond oil for aftershave.

Showering

For showering, try manuka honey bars or tea tree oil.  They are natural antibacterial solutions that are non-damaging.    Now, how about some â??anti-agingâ? advice?

Use a Moisturizer Every Day

Complete skin care for men should include a daily moisturizer, even if you think you have problems with oiliness.  If you do, it is likely caused by the products you are currently using.  If you have a tendency to break out, I am almost certain that it is caused by them.

The best men’s skin care moisturizers will not cause excessive greasiness and they will not lead to break-outs.  Daily moisturizing skin care for men should take the place of your aftershave, except you wonâ??t just â??slap it onâ?.

Witch hazel, as I mentioned before, is one important ingredient, as it has natural antiseptic activity that wonâ??t burn or cause redness like alcohols do.  It will help prevent infection in shaving nicks and cuts.

The best men’s skin care moisturizer contains capuacu butter, since it provides protection from the sun and helps heal razor burn or sunburn.  Vitamin B-5 is included should be included in complete skin care for men, because it helps repair tissue damage, something that almost always accompanies shaving.

In addition, vitamin B5 is a natural moisturizer and enhances the tanning process.  A light tan protects you from sun damage.

Not only is grape seed oil a good shaving lubricant, it is also an effective antioxidants.  Antioxidants help ward off wrinkling and the other signs of aging.  Grape seed is also moisturizing and effective moisturizers keep your skin firm and elastic, another important factor in countering the aging process.

The best men’s skin care solutions contain all of the ingredients mentioned here, but nothing that could do any damage, at all.  Shop for safety, first and your face will say, â??thanksâ?. See http://www.AHealthyRadiantskin.com

The secret to how to make skin look younger can be found in very high quality skin care products containing powerful compounds that can stimulate the body to produce collagen and other skin proteins at the same levels as when you were younger. This is the most effective anti-wrinkle solution you will find, hands down.

Young and beautiful skin is what every one wants but this has become impossible due to climatic changes and exposure to stress and other natural factors like the ultraviolet rays of the sun. The question that everyone has in mind is how to make skin look younger. There are surgical procedures that are available to tighten the skin etc but this is not used by people because of the side effects. The other option is to go in for the use of anti ageing skin care products. This is a very good option if you know to choose the right products for your skin.

Dryness and dehydration are bad for your skin – you must combat these conditions to maintain your skin’s elasticity, suppleness and health. Drinking lots and lots of water every day is the simplest way to keep your skin looking smooth and keeping it properly hydrated. Drinking water is easy on your wallet, too! An additional way to keep your skin soft is by using a good skin care moisturizer just after your shower; massage it gently into your skin to invigorate and rehydrate.

Choose a product that has well-researched ingredients. You can find many products saying they have collagen or elastin to reduce wrinkles. There is no scientific proof that skin collagen and elastin can be absorbed by the skin. The true answer to the question about how to make skin look younger, is using products that enhance skin collagen and elastin levels naturally.

The type of food we indulge in will be reflected on the appearance of our skin. If you are a fan of fried food and junk food, your skin will also look like junk – old, wrinkly and lifeless. Most of the junk food available in the market is filled with free radicals, which can be responsible for sucking out the moisture out of your skin and causing freckles and liver spots on your face and body.

Use a good quality cleanser and wash your face twice a day, perhaps less as you get older. Be sure to change your skin care regimen as your skin ages and it gets drier or changes texture.

Use a good quality wrinkle cream and be consistent in its application. Your skin will benefit from this regular boost of moisture.
Intake of Vitamin C

Besides its nutritional benefits, Vitamin C is known to give us energy and helps boost our immune and nervous system. The most important function, however, of Vitamin C is to enhance collagen production keeping our skin soft, healthy and young looking. It also deters the production of a chemical called arachidonic acid which is responsible for causing crow’s feet, and ageing of the skin. Most creams and lotions used as age-defying solutions have Vitamin C ester or topical vitamin C as an active ingredient

Taking care of our skin should be a part of our daily regimen and hygiene. God gave us the perfect skin when we were born and it is our duty to preserve or perhaps prolong its youthful stage. Taking care of our skin can be done in many ways through our lifestyle, diet and some pampering. Our skin shows what we have been doing, what we have been eating and how we take care of ourselves.

Rashes and irritations attacks babies, pimples and breakouts freaks teenagers out and lastly, lines and wrinkles are life sentences for most middle-aged people. All of us have skin problems and we cannot hide from them. One thing for sure, we have to confront them and address any problems that may come our way.

Skin care regimen can be natural or scientifically and technologically assisted. It ranges from using ingredients from our kitchen to consulting our dermatologist and hitting off to the nearest spa. Getting a skin analysis is the first step in skin care. But it is also the most overlooked.

Here is a story about my beauty conscious friend Gina. She went through a lot until she finally got it right.

To be honest Gina was a vain person. She was always wrapped up in her self and her looks. She would even spend hours in the bathroom applying facial cleansers, toners and moisturizers.

Gina also avoided the sun, ate healthy and abstained from cigarettes and alcohol. But for some reason her skin did not always give her the results she wanted.

She wanted supple and soft skin. But most times her face felt tight, dry and blistered.

Gina thought she was doing something wrong. Maybe it was the brand name of the products she was using? Maybe if she switched to another brand her condition would improve.

So she turned on her television and looked at the beauty ads. She wrote down the different products and brands she saw and went out to buy them.

She bought the most expensive and popular products. She believed that the higher the cost, the better a product will work on her skin.

So what happened next? Did her situation improve?

Sad to say, but no. She still had skin care problems. Only this time she also had a collection of expensive, once-used cosmetics.

Gina was so disappointed that she was about to give up. She thought that beautiful skin was not for her.

It was at this point, however, that I stepped in. I decided to give Gina some advice.

I asked her about her skin type. And just as I suspected, she did not know.

So I explained the 5 different types of skin. They are oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, combination skin and normal skin.

Oily skin is a result of excess sebum. This skin type is often hereditary. But it is also affected by diet as well as hormone levels and lifestyle.

Dry skin is a result of lost moisture. The skin is simply unable to retain its moisture. This is due to a breakdown in the of the hydro-lipid system in the skin. This system is made up of sebum, natural oils and other moisturizing factors in the skin.

Sensitive skin is itchy, stinging and dry. Red patches on the skin are also common. Sensitive skin easily develops allergies towards skin products.

Combination skin comprises of both dry and oily skin. Some areas of the face are dry while other areas are oily. The oily areas tend to be the forehead, nose and chin. To treat combination skin requires a double approach. The oily areas should be treated separately from the dry areas.

Normal skin has a proper balance of oil and moisture. The only thing to be done here is to maintain this balance.

As it turned out, Gina had sensitive skin. And the beauty products she used in the past were irritating it.

Now Gina is working with her skin type. She understands what her sensitive skin needs as well as the appropriate treatments to use. Gina is no longer gambling when it comes to skin care.

This brings us back to my first point. A skin analysis is the first step in skin care. It is how we find out what works best. In other words a skin analysis is the key to having beautiful skin.

Cold weather does more than keep all of us inside by the fireplace. It can also play havoc with our skin. The cold, dry weather combined with the drying effects of the artificial heaters in our home can cause our skin to lose important moisture. Here are some ideas for a good facial skin care plan that will keep your skin looking healthy and beautiful until spring.

Consider Changing Moisturizers

The moisturizer you have for the spring and summer as part of your facial skin care regime might be great for warm weather but you may need to switch during the winter when your skin is drier. Normally, water-based creams are great but in winter consider choosing an oil-based product. Make sure to avoid any types of clogging oils that won’t be good for your pores. You may also want to look for moisturizers that contain alpha-hydroxy acids and/or glycerin because they will bring more moisture to your skin naturally.

Keep Using Sunscreen

One dangerous facial skin care misconception is the sun is only dangerous during the summer but that’s not true. During the winter, the sun’s UV radiation is still strong. Most of us just cover up too much to notice. However, if your face is exposed you should be using sunscreen when you go outside. It’s a good idea to apply it to your skin about a half an hour before you leave and bring a small tube with you if you’ll be outside for a long time.

Invest in Humidifiers

Not everything in your facial skin care plan is going to come in tubes. All of that heat from your home’s heater may keep you from freezing but it’s also drying out your face. Humidifiers send more moisture into the air of your home which can prevent this from happening. Just remember to turn off those humidifiers in the summer when you don’t need the extra humidity indoors.

Use Oatmeal to Combat Itching

Dry skin in the winter can sometimes lead to itchy skin. Scratching your skin will only cause damage so instead you should fill up your bathtub with a combination of lukewarm water (avoid getting the water too hot because they can actually cause more drying) and oatmeal. The combination can help restore some moisture and relieve the itching. Once you dry off make sure to slather on a good amount of your moisturizer, too, as part of good facial skin care.

Basically there are five types of skin, namely, normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive.

Normal skin:
People with normal skin have soft and smooth texture. Normal skin have balanced amount of water and lipids. If a person has a normal skin, he/she has a very good skin. Normal skin also requires cleaning, nourishing and moisturizing. Every day in the morning, clean your face with rose water or astringent tonic. You can moisturize your skin with non greasy cream which is made up of organic or natural ingredients without petroleum by-products. After a hard day’s work when you reach home your skin may turn out to be filthy due to which you get black heads. In order to avoid that wash your face with a mild soap and apply an oil-based nourishing cream on your face. Gently massage your eyes with the cream, after 15 minutes pat your skin with a napkin. To keep your skin in good condition do follow certain steps- drink plenty of water, eat organic food, wear a sunscreen lotion to protect your skin from sun.

Dry skin:
During winter, dry skin faces lot of problems because it is very sensitive. Do not use commercial creams and lotions. Creams that have natural hypoallergenic ingredients are considered best for dry skin. After taking bath in the morning, apply virgin coconut oil, cocoa butter or shea butter all over your body. These contain some natural ingredients like essential oils, vitamin A, C, D and E and protein. Do not wash your face with tap water. Clean your face with mineral water, ice, toner, cosmetic milk. When you take a shower just spend three minutes a day in water. Use only mildest soap. Do not scrub your face. But use only a mild oatmeal soap, which will avoid irritation to your skin. If your skin has itchy spots, do not scratch over that. Apply coconut oil on the itchy spots.

Oily skin:
In oily skin you should try to remove excessive oil. Use mild soap only once in a day but wash your face 2-3 times a day. Always use non greasy moisturizers. Apply clay, papaya or yogurt on your face as it is the best mask for oily skin. Apply this for 20 minutes in a week and wash your face with cool water.

Combination skin: It is a combination of both oily and dry skin. Certain areas of your face are oily and certain dry. Mostly forehead and nose have more excessive oil and other areas like eyes and cheeks are dry. So the areas that are oily use oil skin tips and areas with dry skin use dry skin care tips.

Sensitive skin: This skin type is always very dry and irritated. Do consume a large amount of fatty acids, organic protein, yogurt and lacto-fermented fruits and vegetables. If a woman is vegetarian, they would develop very dry, wrinkled and irritated skin. Follow dry skin tips for sensitive skin.

Skin cancer is another common type of cancer. As the name suggests, skin cancer is a cancerous condition of skin. There are three types of skin cancers: basal cell skin cancer, squalors cell skin cancer and the dangerous malignant melanoma. Since skin cancer is very closely associated to skin pigmentation, the fair skinned people are more at risk of developing skin cancer as compared to the dark skinned ones.

Skin cancer is the most treatable of all types, and the results of treatment are almost always positive. This year, there are expected to be a million new cases of skin cancer diagnosed, but only 1,000 deaths are expected that are caused by the disease. So you can see that even if you are diagnosed with skin cancer, your odds are 1,000 to 1 that you will beat the disease. Those are terrific odds!

Skin cancer is treated with an array of surgical procedures that are dependent on the need of the individual patient. Early detection and removal offer the best chance for a cure. The best defense against skin cancer is to avoid over exposure to sunlight (including tanning), which is the main cause of skin cancer, especially when it results in sunburn and blistering. Actually every one knows that we are facing problem of ultraviolet rays due to losing ozone layer in our atmosphere. And seek shade between 10am and 4pm when ultraviolet rays are the most intense and apply sunscreen.

Red spots that are rough or scaly are other skin cancer signs that should be shown to the doctor when in doubt. As skin cancer can start from or near a mole, make it a point to have your health care provider check all unusual moles that seem to be larger than others, have different colors or have irregular edges. This is because these are all signs for skin cancer. The diameter, or size of the skin lesion, is described by “D,” and reminds people that growths that are greater than a quarter of an inch in size should be evaluated by a medical professional.

Skin cancer and wonder what they should be on the look out for in the way of warning signs. People want to know what the most common signs are, and what they should and should not be concerned about when they look at themselves in the mirror. Sadly, there is no one telltale sign of skin cancer — rather there is a package of skin changes you should keep an eye out for, checking constantly that your skin is free and clear of them. This is especially important for those who spend a great deal of time outdoors and those who had a lot of sunburns when they were younger.

The most common form of cancer in humans is skin cancer. There are over one million cases annually, although not all are reported. Cases of skin cancer has continually risen, this raises concerns over public health. Almost half of Americans that reach retirement age will develop skin cancer at some point.

A common indicator of skin cancer is new growths or sores that will not heal. There are three different types of skin cancer. squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma also known as carcinoma epithelioma, melanoma. Of these basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are the most common.

Everyday we wash down millions of gallons of chemicals down the drain. These chemicals come from cleaning agents, industrial and agricultural sources, and skin care products just to name a few. These chemicals disrupt aquatic ecosystems, seep into underground water sources and contribute to the endangerment of marine life and wildlife. Additionally, most communities get their drinking water from surface sources such as lakes, rivers, and reservoirs, and while our drinking water is filtered through a water treatment facility, traces of chemicals still remain.

There are many benefits for you and the environment when choosing green skin care products. First and foremost, green skin care products do not include harmful ingredients such as:

1,4-Dioxane: a known animal carcinogen, a known eye and respiratory tract irritant, and is suspected of causing damage to the central nervous system.

Phthalates: Studies have shown these cause birth defects and harm male reproductive organs. Unfortunately, a legal loophole in the US means that phthalates can be included in a product’s fragrance without actually appearing on the label.

Parabens: These are common preservatives which can mimic the hormone estrogen, which can increase the risk of developmental breast cancer and urogenital abnormalities. A recent study by the Environmental Working Group just completed a study of hormone disrupting chemicals in skin care products and teen age girls. You can read that report at Environmental Working Group on the web.

Triclosan: This is classified by the EPA as a probable human carcinogen, and its overuse could result in drug-resistant bacteria. This chemical is commonly found in anti-bacterial soaps and cleaners. You can read more about this chemical and it overuse on squidoo lens titled Creating Super Germs.

Whether you decide to make your own skin care products or purchase green skin care products, rest assured that by doing so you will be protecting your health and the health of our environment.

Use one of these oils as a natural, non-toxic moisturizer:
Moisturizing Oils – olive oil, soybean oil, sesame oil, coconut oil, castor oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil. Apply a light layer to warm, moist skin.

It is an old saying that “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” yet women and men are seen resorting to frantic measures in order to restore their youth and enhance their beauty.

A recent article in a beauty magazine claimed that there are no ugly women in the world. There can be only two types of women – beautiful and lazy. The ones who are careful about their skin and take the pains in order to maintain their youth are beautiful. The latter category, which is usually lazy, is simply left wishing for a beautiful face and a beautiful figure to flaunt, but they don’t do anything in order to improve their looks. It has been proved by skin experts around the world that taking proper care of the skin and following the right skin care routine can actually slow down the effects of aging while lending the person a more younger looking and beautiful skin. The most important aspect of beauty starts with beautiful skin. Other aspects of make up can only enhance the look of a person. Skin acts like a canvas on which various shades of make up can be applied. But if the canvas isn’t right itself, there is little that make up can do to make the person look beautiful.

Proper care of the skin helps to tighten, moisturize and gradually uplift the dermis of the skin, thus giving it an internal glow which cannot be achieved by any other beauty product. Apart from this, there is a big booming industry of cosmetics and make up products which can contribute a great deal in transforming a plain Jane into the ultimate glam diva. Some of the make up products which are used around the world include the foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush and lipsticks in an array of colors. Yet another segment of make up which forms a crucial part of any woman’s beauty regimen is the eye make up. Eye make up could be anything ranging from eyeliner, mascara to multi-colored eye shadows. Eye make up can be used either for subtle or for a completely dramatic effect, depending upon the time of the day and the occasion.

Though make up can completely transform the look of a person, care must be taken that only good quality cosmetics are used on one’s skin in order to ensure that these make up products actually help the person to look good and don’t harm the skin in the long run. It is better to invest in high quality products rather than trying to save money by going for inferior products.

Spring is in the air, and as we put away the bulky sweaters and boots, it is also time to evaluate our skin care products. For instance the moisturizer we have used all winter long may be too heavy for the spring and summer months. Furthermore, your winter moisturizer may not contain enough SPF protection for the spring and summer months.

And how about color? Usually our spring and summer wardrobe have a wonderful assortment of different colors. Why not add some color into your makeup bag and introduce new shades of eye shadow, lip tints and blush.

Below are some simple steps to get you glowing for the spring season:

1: Evaluate your moisturizer – Does it contain SPF protection? As the weather gets warmer everyone’s complexion tends to get a little oilier. Even if you have a dry or combination skin, you may need a lighter moisturizer. For those with extremely oily skin, keep a few blotting papers in your bag and/or consider Mattifying Gel which will control oily skin for up to eight hours.

2: Exfoliate the whole body – winter months can take a toll on our skin because the skin cells do not rejuvenate as fast, thus leaving behind dry, rough, and scaly skin. Smooth out skin with a whole body exfoliation. Additionally, exfoliation will promote circulation and bring about a natural glow to the skin.

3: Evaluate your skin – Just as you visit the doctor for yearly physicals; it is imperative that you check your skin. Get a skin survey from a dermatologist. The dermatologist will evaluate all moles, freckles, dark spots and variations in skin tone. Most skin cancer is treatable if detected early.

4: Your Skin and food – spring brings a bountiful harvest of fruits and vegetables and offers so much to promote great looking skin. Fruits and vegetables provide antioxidants which fight off free radicals and protects the skin

5: How about this skin care recipe – a hydrating facial mask to relieve winter dryness, below is a simple recipe you can make at home:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup unripe papaya, diced
1 teaspoon plain yogurt
1 teaspoon honey
Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend. Apply the mask to your face for eight to ten minutes. Then, rinse with cool water and apply a toner to remove all traces of the mask and restore pH balance. Follow with a moisturizer.

6: What about your beauty products? If you are using a hydrating foundation, consider a light dusting powder, bronzer and light lip gloss. For springtime, it is best to keep it simple and fresh. However, ensure that your moisturizer has SPF protection!

7: Be diligent about sun protection – As the weather gets warmer, make sure you’re applying sunscreen to all exposed areas 20 to 30 minutes before heading outdoors, and reapplying every two hours. If you don’t own a double-duty product already, consider using a facial moisturizer with SPF, thus avoiding applying several layers of lotion on the face.

8: I can relate to this one! Clean out the makeup bag! Does you makeup bag look like a child went through it with their crayons? How many items do you have in you makeup bag and never use? Maybe it is time to spring clean your makeup bag and make room for wonderful spring products.

9: Don’t forget feet and hands – Well manicured toes add so much to that pretty sandal! Your hands and feet need extra care to stay smooth and supple.
