i want this! my neurologist suggested it im just weighing my options but i hate pcos – i feel like it robs me of myself – maybe this could give it back
I’m 36 yrs old and had PCOS since I was a teenager. I was on Metformin, Spironolactone, and Demulen for a few years. I had gastric bypass 4 months ago and came off all my meds then. Since surgery, my periods have been 100% normal with a 28-day cycle. Previously if I didn’t take birth control I only had a period once every 18 months. My hair is starting to get thicker and my other PCOS symptoms are gone. The one symptom I read doesn’t go away is facial hair, but I plan to have laser removal done.
I was wondering if one were more comfortable trying a less invasive approach would the lap band be something that would also help the PCOS/Infertility problem?
I wish there were doctors in my area like you who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to PCOS. I was diagnosed when I was 21 after reading an article about PCOS and telling my Doctor that is what I had, before that I was told everything was “normal”. My husband and I are now trying to concieve our first child. I wish I could afford some sort of a weight loss surgery and some of the medications I need in order to concieve. However we have no insurance.

I can not continue to live a happy life this way. I have a husband and two children one is autistic. I only wish to feel better and be a mom and wife again. I seek more information of woman that have PCCOS and have had Gastric bypass surgery or lap band surgery. What are the pros and cons of it? I am desperate for any good advice that anyone here has.
I am a 33 year old with PCOS. My side effects from it is high blood pressure (take meds for it not sure of the name, Insulin resistance (take 1,000 a day of Metformin) and reflux (prevacid). I also suffer sleep apnea and use Cpap at night on a very high pressure. I have tried exercise and eating right. The weight does not seem to come off me and when I do lose a few pounds it always returns. ( read next comment please
Now my Question: My Orientation is this coming Tuesday…I finally got approved , however what happens to other symptoms like exessive Hairgrowth on my chin or will I loose my hair on my head? Or the Skin Tags? I am not nervous at all…I am however very thankful!
Any Tips?
Bypass leads to a decrease in fasting leptin and insulin levels. Progressively increasing peptide YY, enteroglucagon and glucagon-like peptide are also observed.
Am Surg. 2004 Jan;70(1):1-4 Hormonal changes after Roux-en Y gastric bypass for morbid obesity and the control of type-II diabetes mellitus. Gastric bypass (RNY) has been shown to normalize glucose intolerance. GIP and C-peptide both decreased significantly. Gastric Bypass rapidly normalizes fasting plasma glucose in morbidly obese patients with DM-II. GIP, a factor in the enteroinsulin axis, decreases and may play a role in the correction of DM-II after gastric bypass.
this is such a good information. it was explained very well. where do i get the mini gastric by-pass? how long would it take before i can go back to work? i really want to treat my PCOS.

further explanation would b appreciated,or a website?
The surgery is more powerful than weight loss alone. It changes a variety of other insulinogenic hormones.
well i lost a lot of weight on my own and those stupid side effects of pcos DID NOT go away
This is very informative. This helped clear up some questions I could never quite understand surrounding the disorder. Thank you.
