mind

Before you begin to learn yoga you must first decide what you are hoping to learn from yoga. The simple fact is yoga can provide many benefits on the body and mind.

If fitness is the sole aim of why you wish to practice yoga then you will leave your mind closed of to the benefits that it can have on you mentally. If you decide to perform yoga for the sole reason of gaining spiritual enlightenment and the positive effects it can have on you mentally then the fitness aspect may not be exploited to its full potential.

What I would recommend and believe everyone who is interested in taking up this practice is to enter it with an open mind. Learn the basics to yoga first and then as you become more adapt to the postures, poses and mental side that it teaches then and only then will you begin to expand and reap the full benefits of yoga.

Many practitioners of yoga often talk about it uniting the mind, body and spirit through the practice of yoga exercises. I am not saying this is a false statement as I do belive that it can reap those benefits, but many people who enter into yoga for the first time have a perception that they will gain this enlightenment and benefits instantly.

Where as the truth is that it takes many years of practice and dedication to reach these levels. When you start performing yoga for the first time you will begin to notice a difference, but it is essential that you take it a small step at a time. There is a reason that yoga is the oldest existing (what I like to call) mind and body system around, this is due to the fact that it helps to aid in providing a great level fitness, has known health benefits and can help in improving a persons mental state.

One of the main reasons why yoga has such a huge benefit on the body is because it stretches the muscles therefore when you perform a yoga workout it would have a similar effect of a massage which will ensure that the ideal blood supply can be reached by every organ.

The beauty of yoga is that there are many different forms which gives everyone the chance to find what one suits them best. Don’t just set your mind on one type of yoga, try out a few different routines, see which one suits you best.

Different forms of yoga can effect different people in many different ways. So make sure to find out which type will provide the maximum benefit on your mind and body. Yoga can be a very strenuous exercise so make sure that you do not push yourself to much when you start of. This can result in an injury. So take your time to build yourself up and when you feel extremely comfortable then begin to push yourself more.

Below are a list of the most common yoga practices

Ashtanga (Also known as power yoga) – Perfect for the person who wants a very hard workout session. It concentrate less on meditation and more on tough physical exercise.

Iyengar – This is a classical form of yoga and is seen as the best starting block for beginners. Many props are used in this yoga style.

Bikram – Must be carried out in a room that is over 38C or higher. There are 26 postures that are carried out in a specific order.

Hatha – Very chilled out form of yoga which focuses on poses that flow from to another at a very easy pace.

Kundlini – Includes mantras, visualizations, guided relaxation and meditations.

Kripalu – A flowing and meditation orientated. There are 3 stages and the person will perform from stage one to stage three.

Sivananda – This type of yoga consists of a series of 12 poses

Viniyoga – This form helps to develop strength balance and healing. This is probably the most ideal form of yoga for elders, beginners and people with muscle injuries

Raja-yoga – This is aimed at people who are capable of intense concentration

Bhakti-yoga – Helps a person to gain focus on self surrender when in the face of the divine

Mantra-yoga – This is a meditation like yoga which focuses on the verbal repetition or can be mental to empowering sounds such as (om and ram)

The top five are the most commons forms of yoga. Remember if you do decide to try yoga out, take your time, do not push yourself to hard at first, enter into it with an open mind and find out what type of yoga suits you best.

Discipline of the mind and the body is the essence of yoga. Many yoga practitioners feel that without proper discipline and control over the mind and the body, you can not truly experience the full benefits of yoga. Part of the practice of yoga involves concentration and meditation, usually on breathing, to clear the mind and ground oneself to the spiritual and the emotional.

It is also important to remain disciplined in the practice of yoga. Once committed, regular yoga practice is the only way to tap into yoga’s true spiritual and health benefits. Regular practice increases concentration and the blood’s circulation and generally creates in one a sense of overall well-being.

Traditionally, the Hindu religion teaches spiritual and religious discipline in conjunction with yoga. The almost trance-like state experienced by some practitioners of yoga is believed to allow the mind to expand and receive knowledge and enlightenment, an essential element of many religion-based forms of yoga.

More widely practiced in the West, yoga without the practice of a religion focuses more on the physical discipline. Yoga as exercise helps to increase your body’s control and flexibility. You may find that the form of yoga you practice can be enhanced by heightened concentration and meditation and many instructors (yogis) focus on this as an integral part of the practice of yoga.

When intermingled with the meditation and focus on breathing, yoga also helps to control cravings. The emotional and physical control yoga creates allows one to more easily regulate how their body reacts to stress and increases the ability to have self-control. Many who practice yoga for weight loss experience as many benefits from the psychological discipline they develop as they do from the physical discipline.

To help with regular and sustained practice of yoga, you may choose to join a yoga class or have personal instruction from a yogi. Regular yoga practice at home can also be beneficial. Developing discipline takes place over time. You may even need to practice certain exercises repeatedly before mastery is attained. By being disciplined and committed, you can experience the increased physical and emotional well-being yoga provides.

Attaining emotional discipline and control can be trickier for some. That’s where meditation and concentration come in handy. Most practitioners concentrate solely on their breathing and free their mind from all other thoughts. Developing this discipline allows many people to remain calm during daily crises and help them develop self control over temptation (such as those faced when dieting).

Discipline and control allow practitioners of yoga to be at peace when practicing yoga and many practitioners translate that discipline into their everyday lives. To attain inner peace and overall well-being, yoga practitioners may even change their diet and their lifestyle to a healthier one, further enforcing the disciplines they have learned during the practice of yoga.

The application of yoga discipline in your everyday life can help you to become a calmer, more balanced human being and the health benefits caused by increased flexibility and improved circulation can allow you to live a longer and healthier life.

I. Introduction

In my previous article, “Making Decisions and Taking Actions with Feng Shui During Uncertain Times”, I explained how the lesser known temporal aspect of feng shui is a powerful element in helping people make decisions to obtain their desires. Coupled with the more familiar practice of physical feng shui â?? the movements of energies from and around objects and structures and the directional energies â?? temporal feng shui can be a truly powerful secret tool to maximize the positive results you want from your decisions and actions. As I mentioned in that article, to maximize these positive results from the temporal and physical practices of feng shui, a person must act with good intentions and do good deeds. The cosmic energies are most helpful to those who live a productive, useful and helpful life â?? both to ourselves and to others.

Living a useful, productive and helpful life can mean different things to different people. If it is based on a moral compass that espouses charity, generosity, no harm to others, and no harm to oneself, then it is most likely the correct way of living. However, there is more to correct living than these moral compass points, although they are by no means unimportant.

Just as feng shui is based on natural forces of cosmic energies that have their own logic, flow and progressions, so do peoplesâ?? existence on this world. For us, the natural energies, whether positive or negative, flow in a circle from the mind, to the body, to the soul, and back to the mind. That is, the mind controls and feeds the body, the body feeds the soul, and the soul then feeds the mind. If the mind, body and soul are in harmony and balance, then there are sustained positive energy and happiness.

In these uncertain economic and political times, many peoplesâ?? minds, bodies and souls are out of balance. The natural flow and order are disrupted because we have allowed our minds to lose focus, our bodies to take control and our souls to wither. The worldâ??s current economic upheaval is in part due to this imbalance. Now is a good time to get back to the basics, to simplify our lives so that we can find our ways back to balance, harmony and the natural flow.

II. The Body

The body is feeling, pleasure and senses. Our desires are too often meant to satisfy our senses. Too many of us allow our senses of sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing to make decisions for us. This control has lead to excess consumption and spending. Too many of us spend on things that we donâ??t need, consume beyond our resources, and live beyond our means. How many of us have clothes in our closets that are fairly new or unused, yet we buy more clothes? How many of us donâ??t think that there is global warming and our natural resources are depleting at an unsustainable rate? How many of us are over-weight? How many of us have credit card balances due to spending on items that are not necessary for our existence? How many of us are going through foreclosure because we purchased a house that we know we could not afford? How many of us spend unnecessarily on gadgets and toys when all they do is allow us to pass time, which we know can be used on more productive endeavors? How many of us are still unhappy even if we have good jobs, a nice house, and a healthy bank account; yet we desire more? How many of us feel that there has to be something more?

There is nothing wrong with fulfilling our bodily desires so long as there is balance and harmony. This balance and harmony comes with the recognition that we must moderate the actions that are meant to satisfy our five senses. To get back into harmony and balance, start by consulting with our minds, asking whether a particular action is necessary and in balance with where we are in our lives. If we are honest and fair to ourselves in asking these questions, we are slowly allowing our minds to take control over our bodies (and our senses). With this approach, perhaps we can simplify our desires. Perhaps we can conclude that a new shirt is not really necessary, that another serving of food is not really necessary, that another hour on the video game is not really productive, that having a good job, a nice house, and a healthy bank account all satisfy our senses, but not our minds and our souls.

III. The Mind

If we can simplify our lives by reducing the desires of our senses, perhaps we can take a step back and allow our minds to be in control the way it is meant to be. Remember that the mind controls and feeds the body, the body feeds the soul, and the soul feeds the mind again. With the mind in control, it can moderate the actions meant to satisfy the bodyâ??s senses; so that the mind can direct the excess resources that we have (whether itâ??s time, energy or means) to efforts that feed the soul. Additionally, with less emphasis on the bodyâ??s desires, we consume less food, spend less money and deplete less natural resources, all things that in fact benefit our physical existence and enhance our security.

For the mind to regain control the way it should and find its purpose again, it must do things and take actions that truly nourish the body so that the body can nourish the soul. In allowing the bodyâ??s senses to dictate our actions, our minds have allowed us to become self-centered, greedy and negative. Self-centeredness and greediness have contributed to the worldâ??s current economic crisis. In turn, negativity contributes to the prolonged detrimental impact of this crisis on our lives. This negativity manifests in different forms, such as hopelessness, loss of faith, confidence, and poise, and depression.

Our minds must overcome this negativity, work to reduce the self-centeredness and strive towards generosity. We must cultivate our minds in such a way that its energies are directed towards things and actions that we can do that will produce positive results. Feng shui enhances these results, but feng shui cannot create them. Positive results ignite in our minds, and feng shui fuels them.

The first step to cultivating our minds is to recognize what is within our control and what is not. We should be mindful of what is outside of our control, but we should not let those things weigh us down. For example, the worldâ??s economy is near collapse. Many of us feel helpless and apprehensive of what lies ahead. Many of us have lost our jobs, our savings and our shelter. As a result, many of us grow depressed and have lost our faith, confidence, hope, and poise. But why should we feel this way when these events are now out of our control? Of course we may have done things (or more accurately, our bodily senses have caused us to do things) that have contributed to our current situations. But those are things in the past. What should we do now given our current situations that both reflect the lessons we have learned from our prior actions and at the same time achieve balance of mind, body and soul?

Of course, we should learn from our prior actions and not commit the same mistakes we made before. But we should also recognize that positive thoughts and attitudes go a long way to lighten the burdens in our minds, to help us recognize that we may be in a vulnerable position, and to help us do those things that are within our control to help ourselves. Of course, we know that positive thoughts will not put food on the table or pay the mortgage, but they should help us have a clear mind so that we can help ourselves. They should give us hope and faith that so long as our minds, bodies and souls are in balance, then we will make it through any ordeal.

As we strive to remove negativities in our minds, we are in a way nourishing our bodies by removing unnecessary bodily stress and depression. Many of these negativities can cause sleeplessness, depression, worry, anger, and other harmful thoughts and emotions that strain our bodies. Before we can address our greed and self-cen
teredness, we must ensure that our bodies are healthy and have what it needs (not necessarily what it desires).

IV. The Soul

The mindâ??s ability to provide for our body and to direct its actions towards balance and natural harmony must necessarily focus on the health and nourishment of our souls. My reference to the soul in this article is to the positive emotions and feelings people get from performing a good deed. The good deed, along with hope, faith, and good intentions, are what fuel the powers of feng shui.

Once it regains control of our bodies, our minds should direct our bodies not to focus so much on ourselves, but on what we can do for others. Helping others, whether with our time, our money or our energies, is helping ourselves rid of greediness and self-centeredness. When we help others, we are helping to feed our souls because of the innate sense of pleasure and happiness we feel in our hearts when do perform a good, selfless deed. Thus, we should have positive thoughts and hopeful attitudes about helping others and giving of ourselves. We do not necessarily have to give a lot of money, time or energy. The important thing is to feed the soul by giving. The more we give, the more feng shui will work for us. The more pure the giving, that is to give for the sake of giving without the expectation of receiving in return, the more powerful the effects of feng shui.

V. Final Thoughts

Donâ??t approach these harsh economic times as something that is forcing us to reduce consumption and spending, but as an opportunity to permanently change our perspective and behavior. Donâ??t spend and consume less because the economy is bad and you may lose your income so you must conserve. Do these things because of a recognition that spending less and consuming less are ways to get back into balance with the natural order of mind, body and soul for sustained happiness and prosperity. Work to put the mind back in control so that the soul can be nourished. The soulâ??s nourishment is the key to enhance the powers of feng shui.

They help you focus and improve your weaknesses. Affirmations can help you focus on creating and maintaining the healthy body and mind you desire because it gives you the motivation you need to focus on your most important asset – you!

Some good examples of relevant affirmations would be, “It is good for me to take care of myself first,” or, “I am healthy and deserve the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.” Try using simple statements like these regularly during the day to feel great. Everybody needs some extra motivation from time to time.

When you start to implement these strategies in your daily life, you’ll begin to realize just how easy it can be to lead a healthy lifestyle, especially once you have gained the right set of tools in your self-improvement toolbox!

So, give it a try and see if you can improve your body and mind!

For many, body pain is a very real problem. Yet all pain is information. When there is a problem with your body, your body communicates this to your brain via nerve impulses. These impulses are “pain signals” that send the injury information to the brain to make you uncomfortable in an effort to force you to do something about it.

The fact is, many people feel overwhelmed by their body pain and feel unable to do something about it. In fact, pain is made much worse (or made chronic) by the way we think about it … and how often we think about it!

I would like to tell you about a method known as “reframing,” that is simple to do and will allow you to change the way you view and respond to pain. It is simply a form of communicating information. So normally you may say things to yourself like, “My joints hurts, my shoulders ache and they stop me from doing things I like to do. This all gets me down.”

By focusing on the problems, you are actually reaffirming a negative cycle. Let us now “reframe” the above negative thought into a positive one.

“Yes, my body hurts but it is telling me to be careful and not to injure it further. Okay, I should do the correct exercises to free my pain and be aware that I need to watch out for things that could add too much pressure at this point. Also it is good my body reminds me to look after my tender joints. So to thank my body I must keep up with my healthy life program.”

Rather than fight against the pain information (the message) you can use reframing instead to acknowledge the problem, and take affirmative steps to reduce and eliminate the pain. Then, while adopting a pain-relief program, you will be mindful to listen to the communication of information from your body to your brain, and acknowledge the relief as it comes … slow or fast.

Here are the three steps to reframing:

Step One is identifying the problem. Sounds easy, but often we react rather than reason. Take a moment to be with your pain and assess it so you can understand the why, when and how of it. Why is it happening (e.g., you have had a disc problem; you where sleeping in a new bed). When is it happening (e.g., while doing something that always sets it off). What is happening (e.g., what kind of pain is it?)?  And, how is it happening (e.g., are making it worse? Is it fear-based pain where you are worried that it will get bad so you get in the mindset of being in pain?)?

Step Two is separating the intention from the learned behavior. In other words, you slow down to really talk to your subconscious mind about a better way to deal with the problem at hand. You might say, “Okay, I know I am having pain, but it is not an injury, I am not my pain, it just happened today because I have been sitting all day and not moving.” Thinking and acknowledging in this way keeps you focused on getting to step three.

Step Three is setting the positive way forward. You can even thank your body for the message of pain, as it focused you to work with a better intention of achieving your health and long-term life goals.

You can reframe in many ways, just look at the positive view of the situation and let your mind work for you!

It’s been known for some time that a good daily exercise routine can help both improve a person’s physical health and also their mental outlook as well. The body just seems to respond well to being kept in tune. But even further advancement in mind/body health has been brought about in recent years through the use of the pilates exercise method.

Joseph Pilates formulated the basic exercises that comprise the system over 70 years ago, and so the system of graceful movements is named after him. Of course, since that time many more exercises have been added and refinements made, but many of the original exercises are still in use as well.

Pilates felt that the mind and body were connected as a unit and that the mind could help strengthen and control the body’s health if focused properly. So he worked up a system of movements that must be done gracefully and accompanied with proper breathing techniques to build up the core muscles of the body and enhance flexibility in the process. His work became quickly adopted when he opened his studio in New York City and since then has been carried on and expanded after his death.

Pilates exercises try to build strength and stamina not through aerobic and weight training as much as controlled body movements that use isometric principles instead. They can be performed just about anywhere and the only really necessary piece of equipment is a mat upon which to lie down.

Although pilates may sound like a very simple thing to do, there is more to it than you may initially think. Of course, it can be very gentle for those who have been injured and need to start slowly, but for those who are long time practitioners pilates can be challenging as it calls for stretching almost every muscle in your body as you go through the movements and to even hold those stretches for a period of time.

But pilates has another very beneficial effect on one’s health as it contributes to a positive and relaxed mental outlook. That is something that many people would love to have these days, and so they are surprised to learn that pilates can help in this area. But the combination of breathing exercises and total concentration on the movements seems to help many release the worries that cloud their mind from each day’s activity as they go through their pilates workout.

So if you feel that you need to improve both your physical and mental health, why not take a good long look at pilates to see if it can benefit you? It doesn’t take much to get started, and is not expensive at all like other fitness routines. There is no time like the present to begin.

Yoga is a philosophy of life as well as a system of exercises that encourages the union of mind, body, and spirit. Yoga dates back as far as 4000 BC, and was developed first in India. It is a classical science and philosophy that was developed by the Indian sage Patanjali. Yoga comes from the original Sanskrit word, ‘joga,’ which means ‘to join. It has been around for a long time, yet its teachings are still applicable today. Yoga is geared towards self-development and is an important element in personal growth. It is an ancient set of teachings and practices, yet it is truly very simple to do.
In the past decade, the yoga craze has been sweeping the western world. Yoga as it is practiced in the West is often simply the asanas, or yoga postures. These postures are named after mammals, fish or reptiles. Poses range from the easier corpse pose, which involves lying on the floor while completely relaxed, to the most difficult poses that take years of practice to master. Hatha yoga, the style most commonly taught in the West, includes stretching and breathing exercises, poses, meditation or relaxation techniques. Yoga has many styles, forms and intensities. It is a system of techniques that can be used for: learning to relax, managing stress and increasing limberness all the way to becoming more self-aware. Yoga is all about going back to nature, back to the basics. It is a way of maintaining a balanced attitude in your day-to-day life. Yoga, has precise movements that draw your focus away from your busy day and more on the calming moments as you move your body through poses that require balance and concentration. It is a program that involves stretching, movements, controlled breathing and relaxation exercises.
Yoga is more than a set of exercises to increase flexibility, however. Yoga can help you meditate, reduce stress, and even build strength. It is said to be a complete medical science and an enlightening spiritual art. Yoga is more than mastering postures and increasing your flexibility and strength. It has also been found to be helpful in the treatment of depression and anxiety which often accompanies pain problems. Yoga poses are also useful in curing disorders such as eating, bipolar disorders, asthma, seizures, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels and is said to also encourage weight loss. It has been known to balance hormones and the endocrine system. It can also be helpful when combined with other treatments for heart disease and high blood pressure. Yoga is often used for helping to rehabilitate  people who want to improve and increase back strength after spinal injury.  It can strengthen muscles, increase flexibility, and help you sleep better. Yoga, when combined with a vegetarian diet, aerobic exercise and medication has reduced cardiovascular disease and blood pressure levels. Yoga is an effective method to reduce anxiety. It’s controlled breathing exercises has become a popular means of stress management and teaches that by controlling your breathing you can gain control over your body and mind. Yoga also helps build stamina and strength which can help you cope better with the physical aspects of stress. Yoga is also a good tool for relaxation. Yoga slows down the aging process by giving elasticity to the spine, firming the skin, removing tension from the body, strengthening the abdominal muscles, improving the tone of muscles, and correcting poor posture.Yoga produces a healthy strong body with increased immunity against disease. It not only cures diseases and improves physical health but also changes mind sets.  Yoga is a wonderful form of exercise, it relaxes the mind and exercises the body. It combines breath and movement into one, it also directs oxygen to flow into our muscle tissue which allows for better blood movement throughout our body.
Yoga is one of the fastest growing exercises that everyone can do. You can start doing it right away and you do not need to buy anything special or learn a lot to start, there is also no age limitation for practicing yoga. Yoga is perfect for every fitness level. You can take classes to help you understand the concepts of yoga, having someone help you in the beginning is always a great idea, you might think about taking a class. Classes generally start with a series of poses and typically end with a relaxation period to calm the body and clear the mind. Classes are designed to help you build strength and to develop a deep sense of  your body, mind and spirit. Some classes can be modified to fit individual needs and for older adults, can help them stay steady on their feet and avoid falls. Yoga teachers are not certified, so make sure you go to a reputable studio. Yoga, overall, is generally considered very safe. Yoga is a gentle way to heighten your awareness, empower the body and invigorate the soul.

We use spiritual knowledge to get rid of our bad qualities and replace them with good qualities. Most of our suffering is due to the darkness of ignorance and this suffering can be removed only with the light of knowledge.

5.KARMA YOGA: It is the path of selfless service. Selfless service is at the core of our Higher Self and is the source of true peace and happiness. We express our love for God by serving all His creations. This yoga is the key for making the worldly path a divine path, by helping genuine good people.

6.BHAKTI YOGA: Bhakti is the approach of pure intense love, devotion to God, and attachment to Him alone. God is to be regarded as the devotee’s parent, master, friend, child, husband or sweetheart, each succeeding relationship representing an intensification of love.

7.RAJA YOGA (Ashtanga Yoga): It is a practical and systematic path, codified by sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras somewhere around 200 B.C. It is also known as the eightfold path as it is made up of eight angas, or limbs.

How to get in to a positive frame of mind.

Life is not all plain sailing. Indeed, hardship, trials and tribulations are part of parcel of being. Encountering difficulty is not a bad thing –what matters is the way we deal with it. A positive frame of mind is important for so many reasons. Positive thinking is proven to enhance performance in productivity and quality. We tend to think more and actively and perform better when we are feeling positive and well.

There are biological explanations of this. A positive frame of mind is due to enhanced levels of neuro transmitters like serotonin that regulate the performance capabilities of the brain. The knock effects of a positive frame of mind also include better health – not just better mental health but better in the physical sense. This is due to the boost to the immune system that a positive frame of mind can give you from positive hormones .

The reverse is also true, when we are depressed we are far more liable to contracting other diseases and mental health issues. Our relationships with others deteriorate, we begin to think irrationally and our productivity can ground to a direct halt. In short this is a frame of mind that is best to avoid at all costs. Feeling unhappy from time to time is not unusual- but how we choose to deal with a problem comes from our default state of mind.

A positive mental attitude is also about giving you a can do attitude. People who think positively are far more likely to see challenges rather than problems or opportunities rather than difficulties. For instance, entrepreneurs who are successful often are because they are able to spot opportunities for growth in a market which others only see problems in. The positive mental attitude of the successful businessmen means that opportunity becomes a reality ; because they also have the drive and motivation to succeed and make their dream come true . So as you can see there is much to be gained from a positive mental attitude. The problem for a lot of people is in developing one in the first place.

It is true that some people seem to be more positive than others. Having a so called ‘ sunny disposition’ implies that there is something inherent or genetic to account for a frame of mind. While this may be true in some cases it is also true that a positive frame of mind is not an attribute for a privlleged few. It is something that is open to anybody. Anyone, that is, who is prepared to put the necessary work in to attain it.

Developing a positive frame of mind is not some new aged fad. For centuries religious men and scholars alike searched for and developed techniques to harness an inner harmony. While this may have begun to make one closer to god the essence of this idea is just as relevant today. That a positive frame of mind makes us closer to the divine while a negative frame of mind can only lead us in to ways of being that are a detriment to our lives. Monks realised this long ago which is why they devote themselves to a life of abstinence and mental and spiritual fulfilment.

One of the best ways to determine your frame of mind is to think about how you are with other people. A great way to do this is to picture how you behave towards people you do not know. Are you outgoing and open to meeting and talking with others? Or are you insular and afraid. Believe it or not one of the best ways to overcome a negative frame of mind is to change your attitude to the world around you and that means the people in it as well. If you are usually uncomfortable around others then try this experiment. One night force yourself to strike up a conversation at random in a public place. Do not be concerned about how you look or appear – or what you talk about.

A reference about the weather or anything will do. Just try it and note how you feel afterwards
You see, the way you are with others will affect the opportunities you get offered. Think about it in this way – who is the most likely to get the furthest in a workplace between two people of equal ability and experience except for one difference- One is uptight and ill at ease with others around them the other easy going comfortable in the company of others. If I was the boss of those two people I know which one I would pick for a promotion.

So really work on adopting a positive frame of mind and you will benefit big time.

Diabetes problem – Some things you need to keep in mind
When it comes to dealing with diabetes, you need to understand that diet plays an important role. Most people simply like to eat out and indulging restaurant food occasionally. It is a sin for the diabetics to indulge in restaurant food once in a while. However, we must take special care about certain types of things when it comes to eating food. Here are some things you need to keep in mind.

a) Maintain control of your portion sizes:
Most restaurants tend to use large portions. However, the diabetic diet plan is based on a moderate portion size. In this case, the restaurant offers dishes you have chosen in many dimensions, make sure you choose the smallest portion. You can also get a little creative.

Start order lunch size enter and for dinner or even a baby size meal. You might even consider sharing their meals with a partner or even ask to take home a container.

It would be a wise decision to ask the server to put half the meal you ordered in a take home container before it is served to you. This will help you to have a moderate size meal.

b) Make substitutions:
Never settle for whatever comes in their direction. Try to choose a diabetes friendly salad bowl or a fruit instead of chips. Fat-free or low-fat salad dressing is the best in comparison with the finger or fried chips served with the sandwich or a certain meal.

Try ordering salsa with burrito and not shredded cheese or sour cream. The dressings on the salad should be fat-free mayonnaise or barbecue sauce instead of ketchup or mustard. Several extras ordered with a sandwich or meal such as bacon bits, fried chips or croutons can destroy your nutrition plan. These foods tend to increase calorie and carbohydrate counting.
You can also go for several healthy additions such as salsa, fat free mayonnaise, fat-free salad dressing or barbecue sauce. Try to enjoy up to three small portion of food. That way, you do not need to adjust your meal plan.

c) Have a chat with the chef:
This will help you a lot in most nutritious food that is necessary for a diabetic. Ask the boss if he can provide you with some low-cholesterol egg, chicken skin or whole grain bread.

The pizza you order should have a thin crust and is composed of a lot of vegetables. All you need to do is choose a health plan to stay committed to your diabetes meal plan.

d) Keep tabs on what you drink:
If you are having a big glass of soda, then you will certainly overload your body with about hundreds of calories. Do not opt for shakes and ice cream, since it has a lot of calories and saturated fats.

Order for a diet soda is the right choice. You can even go for sugar free iced tea, mineral water or sparkling water. If your diabetes is under control, an occasional alcoholic drink is perfectly fine.

However, if your level of blood sugar is high, the alcohol will add empty calories to your meal. Can even aggravate complications such as eye disease or nerve damage. If you must drink alcohol, beer and dry wines, light consists of a number of calories compared to other alcoholic beverages. Sugar free mixed drinks are great options, as Seltzer, club soda, diet soda or diet tonic.

e) Come on time:
Eating at the same time will help to maintain stable levels of blood sugar.

Stress presents itself in many forms. Whether it manifests itself physically, mentally or in response to environmental factors, it can have a negative impact on one’s health.  The De-Stress Retreat is your chance to proactively utilise new tools to withstand these challenges.

We all have different constitutional strengths and weaknesses. Normally these begin as insignificant annoyances but over the years when ignored can build up into more serious imbalances and complaints.

This retreat focuses around the holistic methods of addressing mind, body and spirit. When the mind and spirit are in balance the physical manifestations have the opportunity to recover. By assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the body and utilising techniques such as Sacred Crystal Healing, Reiki, Meditation, Craniosacral Therapy and naturopathic consultation, this adds a new dimension to standard blood tests and physical examinations which most often appear as normal, despite feelings of unease, tiredness and lack of energy.
