“I am sorry, you have cancer” is a devastating news no one wants to hear from a physician in these days. Not only the disease is life threatening, but also the side effects of the treatment make the bravest man stumbles.  For most people, cancer is like a death sentence, which is not true at all. In fact, being depressed increase the effects of developing cancer and your risk of dying from it. Cancer effects can be emotional and physiological. In this article, although it is impossible to detail all effects of cancer in your life, I talk about its main emotional effectsr, and the way to cope with them.

Fear – if you are a cancer survivor, whenever you have pain or feel not good, the first idea that tends to come up to your mind is “the cancer has come back”. In fact, around 80% of the times the pain has nothing to do with cancer. If you look back to your past, you may realize that you used to have those similar experiences years before the genesis of the first cancer cell in your body.

Anger – wanting to overcome is in human nature. When you feel unable to fight against cancer, it may happen that you become angry against the cancer itself, your health care providers; friends spouse and family, God, even against yourself. This behavior worsens when you are misunderstood or underestimated.

Loneliness – as the majority of victims of cancer, you can be full with visits at the beginning. As time goes by, the number of visits decreases or stops completely, presence and simile disappear gradually. It may happen you do not receive visits or phone even from your lover; she/he is gone. You look around you, there is no one. You call, nobody answered. You feel that nobody loves or understands you, you feel alone; you are lonely.

Feeling of guilt – when you are living with cancer, you may feel guilty all the times. Because, according to you, you are responsible for the disease because of your lifestyle and habits. In addition, you may feel guilty for having too upset your families; you think, emotionally and financially, you are a burden for them.

Sadness and Depression – any person affected by cancer tend to feel sad after the diagnosis or during treatment; it is a normal reaction to stressful and overwhelming situations. However, you need to overcome the sadness, because if you do not, you will do more harm than good to your health. It is said, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22).

Stress and Anxiety – cancer, especially during treatment, is often accompanied by stress and anxiety. These emotional problems are often the result of changes in your life, or the effects of media (news about people die from cancer). If left untreated, stress and anxiety can lead to minor health problems rapid heartbeat, dry mouth and difficulty swallowing, sweating, headache, tremor, nausea or diarrhea; problems or trouble sleeping, feeling of oppression or tightness in the throat or chest, muscle pain, rapid breathing and low, and more.

If you are, however, a family or friend of a cancer victim … you should know that fighting cancer is a very difficult time to go through. Your comprehension and help are precious. If you are a spouse of a cancer victim, and you want to quit, do not accuse her/him falsely; you increase her/his pain. The changes you see are resulted from the cancer; do not use them as alibi. Remember, what happen to partner today may happen to you tomorrow, and what you have done to him will be done to you. This article was about emotional effects of cancer. To learn more about  effects of each type of cancer and tips to reverse them, visit cancer effects

Quitting smoking is one of the best decisions you can ever take in your life. Once you quit smoking, your health starts to pick up immediately. However, you may face certain quit smoking side effects for a few days. This is because nicotine is an extremely addictive substance. It affects your brain and stimulates the release of dopamine which gives you pleasure for a short while. When you quit smoking, your brain starts craving for its stipulated dose of nicotine. The craving is so intense that you start experiencing quit smoking side effects which are also termed as nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Some of the most commonly reported quit smoking side effects include headache, anxiety, anger, nervousness, depression, cough, sore throat and dry mouth. These side effects are most bothersome, especially during the first three days of your smoking cessation process. These eventually subside by the end of the first week. The first few days of your quit smoking process are therefore the hardest to overcome. Once you pass these successfully, you have high chances of quitting successfully for life.

Earlier, the only option before people was to quit smoking via the cold turkey method. This means, you quit smoking by sheer will-power alone. Though many people are still able to quit successfully via this method, it has been observed that most people have to make at least 4-10 attempts to quit before they actually succeed. Hence, the chances of quitting smoking are quite low with this method. Thanks to the advancements in medical science, you now have several advanced quit smoking aids that relieve you of the quit smoking side effects quite effectively.

Currently, one of the most advanced smoking cessation aids is a quit smoking drug called Chantix varenicline. Developed by Pfizer pharmaceuticals, Chantix is an FDA approved quit smoking drug. The medicine helps to relieve you of the painful nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Varenicline – the active ingredient in Chantix dupes your brain into thinking that it has received its dose of nicotine. You therefore do not experience any craving for nicotine. Another unique feature of Chantix is that it makes smoking less pleasurable for you. So even if you smoke during your quit smoking treatment with Chantix, you do not derive the same pleasure as you used to earlier. You are therefore not tempted to light up a cigarette again. As a result, your odds of quitting smoking increase with Chantix. The medicine works better than Zyban, the only other FDA approved quit smoking pill apart from Chantix. It may be noted that both Chantix and Zyban are prescription only drugs. You need to consult your doctor before using any of these smoking cessation drugs.

If you do not wish to take medications, you can take the help of nicotine replacement therapy to relieve yourself of the quit smoking side effects. In this method, nicotine is supplied to your body externally so that you are relieved of the nicotine withdrawal symptoms and also saved from the other harmful substances in cigarette smoke. However, this method is not preferred as it supplies your body with harmful nicotine and also involves a certain risk of re-addiction.

High cholesterol levels are approaching epidemic proportions in western society. For that reason, it’s necessary to learn how to lower LDL cholesterol. But what precisely is it? Cholesterol is a waxy substance produced by the liver. It is critical to {each and every cell in the body. Cholesterol also enters the body through saturated fats that we eat in particular foods.

There are 2 basic sorts of cholesterol. One is regarded good the other is bad. The bad cholesterol is called Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). A blood test that discovers your bad cholesterol levels below 130 milligrams per deciliter ( mg/dL ) is regarded good. The good cholesterol is the High Density Lipoprotein (HDL). It works to cleanse the body of excess amounts of amounts of LDL cholesterol, so a larger number, something above forty mg/dL, is considered healthy. Your total cholesterol readings should be lower than two hundred mg/dL for optimal health.

Do you want to know how to lower LDL cholesterol and why it is important? Lower cholesterol is important to living a long and healthy life, one that is free from heart problems or stroke. Those are risk factors that come with elevated levels of cholesterol. The health problems arise when there is too much total cholesterol in the blood. This impedes blood flow and prohibits it from moving smoothly thru the arterial system. Over time, excess cholesterol builds up on the inside of the artery walls and narrows the space through which blood flows. This narrowing of the arteries is named atherosclerosis. Finally this passage becomes so small that it chokes off blood flow absolutely and the result’s a coronary or stroke. The danger of this is even larger if you also have high blood pressure, diabetes, or if you are overweight. A doctor will tell you how to lower LDL cholesterol with the aid of drugs. Pharmaceuticals are frequently prescribed to lower cholesterol. One effective and popular class of medication is called statin drugs. These medications work to lower overall cholesterol, but carry with them a number of complications, and a number of them are serious. These dangerous side effects include kidney failure, muscle weakness, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, and others.

Many people are reluctant to take costly and possibly life threatening drugs and they want to know how to lower LDL cholesterol naturally. And actually, it is very simple. To lower cholesterol naturally, diet and exercise are imperative. A low fat, low cholesterol diet containing certain vitamins can seriously lower LDL cholesterol. This is true regardless of whether your cholesterol results from bad diet choices or hereditary factors. An additional benefit of exercise is the fact that exercise can raise HDL cholesterol so that your system is better able to remove excess LDL cholesterol.

Smoking harms almost every organ of the system and diminishes an individualâ??s whole health. Smoking is a leading reason of cancer and of death from cancer. It causes cancers of the lung, esophagus, larynx (sound corner), lip, throat, kidney, bladder, pancreas, abdomen, and cervix, as easily as intense myeloid leukemia. Smoking too causes eye disease, shot, lung disease (chronic bronchitis and emphysema), pelvis fractures, and cataracts. Smokers are at high danger of developing pneumonia and new airway infections. When you halt smoking, you will dramatically better your chances of avoiding countless natural and physical position effects.

Take a look below and glance at just how smoking effects all parts of your body, including the urinary tract, digestion, bones and ones own reproductive system. When you stop smoking, the mucous production levels seem to rise and as a result, you may suffer from a post nasal drip. When you abruptly quit smoking, the body is in kind of a state of loss, not knowing how to work normally since it has not worked normally in such a long time. Your body will readjust and release sugar as it is needed. Without eating any more your body will just figure out how to regulate blood sugar more efficiently. Many people get headaches on quitting smoking.

There are several reasons. Your brain is getting more oxygen and your body is ridding itself of carbon monoxide. Many people have their sleep temporarily disrupted. Increased blood supply nourishes the skin which in turn makes you more presentable than before. Stop smoking to reduce the risk of infertility. Infertility can be reversed if you stop smoking. People who quit smoking have improved circulation, donâ??t produce as much phlegm, and donâ??t cough or wheeze as often. Quitting smoking reduces the risk of cancer and other diseases, such as heart disease and lung disease, caused by smoking.

People who stop smoking, irrespective of their age, are less possible than those who remain to smoke to perish from smoking-related sickness. People who stop at about age 50 cut their danger of dying prematurely by 50 percentage compared with those who remain to smoke. Quitting smoke may induce short-term problems. Depression, anxiety, uneasiness, weight increase, and new problems are symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. When you stop smoking 20 hours carbon monoxide clears from your system. Oxygen levels climb and you have much vitality. When you stop smoking a year your danger of an eye blast has fallen to about half that of a smoker.

Aldara cream is a topical medication (one which is applied to a definite or localized area of the body) used widely for treating genital warts (a sexually transmitted disease caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) which spreads through skin-to-skin contact during sex with an infected partner). Genital warts occur as small flesh-colored bumps similar to cauliflowers in appearance. They can be found mostly in the genital areas as well as the throat and mouth. They are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) which has the potential to infect almost 50 percent of men and women who are active sexually. Once can also get infected with genital warts upon exposure to contaminated medical equipment.

At present, the treatment of genital warts involves surgical procedures like laser therapy, freezing and burning off the warts. The other and more economical alternative is the application of topical medications like aldara cream which has been found to be effective and user-friendly. Once prescribed by a doctor, a patient can apply it himself directly on the wart(s) three times a week, or as prescribed by the doctor. Despite its apparent benefits and advantages, Aldara cream is not without side effects, some of which can be quite unwanted.

The most commonly seen side effects of aldara cream are skin reactions in the affected area including:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Sores, blisters or ulcers
  • Hard or thickened skin
  • Changes in skin color
  • Peeling of skin
  • Scabbing
  • Crusting
  • Itching
  • Burning

Application of aldara cream may also cause backache, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, flu-like symptoms, swollen lymph nodes, diarrhea and fungal infections. During the course of treatment with aldara cream, the skin in the affected area may appear to differ from normal skin. Some of the side effects like redness, swelling and sores at the affected site are common after application of aldara cream. Itching or burning is yet another reaction that you may experience. Usage of too much of the cream or wrong use may cause severe skin reactions – consult your doctor right away in either case. In some instances where the skin has been affected adversely, the use of aldara cream may have to be deferred until the skin heals.

Note: In case of extreme and persistent side effects, consult your doctor immediately.

It is not good when you have drunk alcohol above the legal prescribed limit but decide to drive after that. Similarly, drivers should also know that the use of handphones is not safe for driving.

Reports of the dangerous effects of benzophenone, homosalate and octyl-methoxycinnamate that some sunscreens use caused many consumers to return to the old-school products containing titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.

There are several thousand different chemical agents that are routinely used in the development of cosmetics, which play the role of antibacterial agents, aroma producers, and preservatives.

They attempt to expose as many of the risks of dangerous cosmetics as possible, to try and force our government to regulate the industry and the companies to produce safe cosmetics. And they run a Compact for Safe Cosmetics. Cosmetic companies that are prepared to dedicate themselves to produce only safe cosmetics.

The quantities found in cosmetics are not sufficient to present those risks. Using eye makeup that contains mercury is unlikely to cause immediate health problems, but still, mercury accumulates in the body.

Is it possible then that your seemingly harmless deodorant that contains parabens is doing more than just controlling underarm wetness and odor? What are the chances that the parabens have somehow accumulated to a significant amount through constant repetitive.

Ingredients found in a good quality mineral makeup kit will not block pores and can actually have a beneficial effect on the skin.

So, while the base you use everyday is only placed on your face, if it has harmful chemicals in it, those chemicals can wind up directly in your bloodstream! Another danger issue with cosmetics is that they are not controlled well.

However, this is not actually the case with hypoallergenic products. Medically the term hypoallergenic has no meaning.

Many companies, even some of the big brand names, now offer safer, more natural products. Natural vitamin E is an effective preservative, just as effective as a paraben.

If you’re reading this then you like me have suffered from Migraines and I’m sure you’ve taken many medications to help deal with the attack when it begins. In fact many of us carry around pain medication with us where ever we go just on the off chance that we get struck down while in the middle of something.

Well if you’ve read any of my other articles you’ve learned about easy ways that allow you to take better care of yourself. And taking care of yourself is the key to dealing with your migraines. By lowering your stress levels, eating better, eliminating trigger foods and getting some regular exercise you can start to minimize your attacks and perhaps even the intensity of pain you feel when you do get one.

But there’s still one piece missing. To live migraine free you need to be able to keep your body in a healthy state. So we here at the Migraine Freedom Team have put together a list of natural vitamins, nutrients and herbs that are particularly helpful for migraineurs.

1) Magnesium

Magnesium is critical to your health and research points to a relationship between migraine and magnesium deficiency. One hypothesis is Magnesium’s critical function in expanding muscles and opening up the blood vessels located in the brain. It has no serious side effects beyond diarrhea if taken in excessive amounts. In fact, in cases where migraine headaches have been bad enough to send the migraine sufferer to the emergency room its been that intravenous magnesium sulfate can eliminate a migraine within 15 minutes.

2) Vitamin B2

Also known as riboflavin, vitamin B2 is required for a wide variety of cellular processes. Like the other B vitamins, it plays a key role in energy production in your mitochondria. Mitochondrial dysfunction is thought to be a factor for migraine sufferers. Studies where patients used 400mg of vitamin B2 daily were shown to significantly decrease migraines frequency and intensity.

3) Feverfew

Feverfew is a traditional medicinal herb. It has historically been used for reducing fever, treating headaches, arthritis and digestive problems. What it does is helps relax the blood vessels in your brain and reduce inflammation. Both of these are key elements in migraine headache attacks.

4) Butterbur

It was used by native Americans as a remedy for headache and inflammation. Butterbur studies have shown an association between Butterbur and a decrease in migraine frequency. It seems to do this through its strong anti-inflammatory properties. It’s also very safe showing no side effects even in children. The only caveat to be aware of is that Butterbur naturally contains chemicals called pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA’s) which are toxic to the liver so it is important to be careful when taking a butterbur supplement that it comes from an extract that’s free of these chemicals.

5) Co-Enzyme Q10

The Mitochondria in our cells work to produce energy for the body through a process known as oxidative phosphorylation. It has been found that at least a subset of migraineurs have a dysfunction in their mitochondria’s ability to perform this process. In studies, Co Q10 has been shown to help improve energy production in the mitochondria of human cells. Co-enzyme Q10 is very safe even in large doses and has a host of other health benefits protecting the heart, providing more energy and being a powerful anti-oxidant and more.

6) Essential Fatty Acids

It is believed that neurogenic-inflammation (inflammation in the brain) is involved in the causation of migraines. Our cells contain an enzyme that causes inflammation. It is normally used to protect us when when we’re injured, dealing with allergies, or when in diseased states. The body also has an enzyme that naturally decreases inflammation. However, when the ratio of inflammatory to anti-inflammatory enzymes becomes unbalanced (they easily can due to pollution, stress, and toxins) the result is damage and the deterioration of your body similar to a car overheating after being run too hard and too long. The result can range from arthritis in your joints, damage to the brain causing Alzheimer’s disease, damage to your arteries causing hearth attacks and stroke or in this case contributing to your migraine attacks. Essential fatty acids have the nutrients that your body needs to bring these enzymes back into balance cooling the inflammation of your body and brain.

This list may seem like a lot to take but it results in a migraine cure that really works. Now to avoid having to take handfuls of pills (I try to keep my pill popping to an absolute minimum when ever possible) you should look for a product that contains a combination of ingredients in one. That way you get the benefit of fortifying yourself in multiple ways at once while lowering the number of pills you have to take daily.

To your migraine freedom!

Women who want to be thin and are advised against eating sugar-rich and sweetened foods. But then, these food items are really one of life’s guilty pleasures. How else can you resist the sight of chocolates, ice creams, and cakes? It’s impossible to lose weight and be addicted to sweet food. Sodas and beverages have lots of sugar loaded into to them too.

However, there’s one sweetener that is widely used today. Sugar is slowly being replaced by high fructose corn syrup as a sweetening ingredient. Much of it is because it is a lot cheaper and is easier to handle.

What is High Fructose Corn Syrup?

High fructose corn syrup is not just a sweetener but a preservative as well. The syrup is created by changing the glucose found in corn into fructose. Fructose is another form of sugar. Comparatively speaking, they are not much different from each other. High fructose corn syrup enhances the flavor of foods like yogurts, sauces, and marinades. It also prolongs the freshness of breads, as well as adds moisture and texture to cereals and breakfast bars.

What are the health effects of high fructose corn syrup?

The current misconception about high fructose corn syrup is that it promotes obesity. However, recent studies have proved that high fructose corn syrup is not less healthy compared to other sweeteners. It also doesn’t cause obesity.

Composition-wise, high fructose corn syrup is equivalent to honey and sugar. As such, it is comparable to these two sweetening staples. It is not right to assume that high fructose corn syrup is more detrimental to the health than its counterparts. In fact, sugar and high fructose corn syrup have the same amount of calories for every gram.

Generally speaking, high fructose corn syrup is safe. It is a natural sweetener that has nutritive values as well. It can be used in food and in meals without making you obese. While sweetened foods do have the ability to induce obesity, high fructose corn syrup is not a unique contributor. What it can do to your health is something that glucose, sugar, and honey can too.

When administered into the body, high fructose corn syrup is treated in the same way as regular sugar. This means that the body recognizes it as table sugar and is metabolized similarly. Women, regardless if they’re fat or lean, process high fructose corn syrup in the same way.

It is quite safe to claim that high fructose corn syrup is a naturally-occurring sweetener. It is composed of fructose-glucose combination, like honey and table sugar. There are no artificial ingredients or synthetic elements found in it. No color additives are added to it either. High fructose corn syrup conforms to the FDA standards of being natural.

High fructose corn syrup can be taken with full peace of mind. It won’t affect or alter your appetite. High fructose sugar is not sweeter than sugar and doesn’t have negative effects on a woman’s health.

Penis as an external sexual organ performs a vital role in sexual activity. This is the reason why the various facets of the penis become a part of various studies and research. The penis size has been the subject of discussion, debate, apprehension and insecurity. There is no doubt however, that the size of the penis is very important for men and they think about this aspect more than women.

Penis and its role in your sexual life

Penis is a sexual organ and plays a very important role in your life. There are various other aspects of the penis that play as important a role in your sexual life. These aspects include the health and hygiene of the penis. A number of people also think that the size of the penis also plays an important role in their sex life. There is a flawed thinking that the bigger the penis size, the more the sexual satisfaction for the partner. But, sexual satisfaction depends on other factors as well, which include stimulation, and the emotional aspect. It’s very important to be aware of the various problems affecting the penis. If you are aware of them, you can address these concerns, if and when they crop up.

Is penis size strictly a man’s concern?

Various surveys have pointed out to the fact that men think about the penis size and its various aspects more than women. For women, the penis size is just a small part of the overall sexual experience. The reason for this is not hard to find. It lies in the heads of the men. They have this mindset that a small sized penis will not achieve maximum sexual satisfaction. The mindset is a result of the myth largely propagated by advertisers and their likes to sell penis enlargement products. It’s important to understand that for a typical female, sex is more about emotional fulfillment than just satisfying a physical need. Another fact to note is that most men have a normal penis size. The fact that a penis is seen from above might makes it look smaller.

Effect of smoking on the penis

If you want to lead a healthy life both sexual and otherwise, cut down on your cigarettes. It would be a great idea to leave smoking altogether. A Boston University study suggests that smoking can decrease the size of the penis. The effect of smoking on the vessels of the penis is similar to the damage caused by smoking to the blood vessels of the lungs and heart with respect to elasticity. Smoking results in a constriction of these blood vessels. The penile blood vessels are much smaller than those in the heart, so their constriction could have severe consequences for the penile region, a reduction in the size of the penis being one of them. Also, smoking has been identified as one of the causes of erectile dysfunction.

When it comes to minimizing the effects of psoriatic arthritis on the body, it is important to visualize the two contributing conditions as unique problems. Psoriasis is far different from arthritis, even though the two conditions fall under the tent of a psoriatic arthritis diagnosis.

Keeping Psoriasis at Bay

The most effect way of minimizing psoriasis outbreaks is to take care of the skin. This includes treating the body well from the inside in order to optimize the skin’s ability to protect itself. Patients need to maintain a healthy diet that is rich in essential fatty acids which work to improve overall body health and decrease the inflammation associated with both psoriasis and arthritis.

Triggers are also an important part of keeping skin flare-ups at bay. Triggers can include medications, alcohol consumption, smoking and stress. Quitting drinking and smoking will go a long way toward keeping skin effects at bay and may also help improve joint health. Keeping a journal of any medications that cause a skin flare-up is also important. If a doctor tries to prescribe the same medication again, you can advise him or her of the previous affects on the skin and a new medication can be chosen.

Physical care of the skin is also important. Moisturizers can be used to keep skin from drying out and developing itchy spots. In addition to applying moisturizes directly to the skin, an internal moisturizer can also help. Many people do not consume enough water which can leave the skin dry. Increasing water intake is an easy way to moisturize the skin naturally.

Keeping Arthritis at Bay

Some of the same life changes made to keep psoriasis flare-ups from occurring will positively affect joint health. But, there are some specific changes that can directly affect arthritis. The most important is the addition of exercise and reduction of weight.

The joints are protected by sheaths of natural cushioning that stop the bones from rubbing together. These cushions deteriorate, over time, when arthritis affects the joints. Additional weight will increase the deterioration dramatically. Exercise can help to reduce weight and inflammation associated with arthritis. In addition, the healthy dietary changes made to treat psoriasis can also be adjusted to reduce caloric intake and thus reduce weight. Increasing water intake and essential fatty acids will also positively affect joint health. These are both good choices for psoriasis treatment as well.

Exercise is also an important step in reducing inflammation. Even if the patient is not overweight exercise is important. While the joints may be a bit tender at first, movement will distribute the built up fluid and the swelling will go down. It is important to take your time when starting a new exercise program to minimize the muscle pain associated.

There are some treatments and prevention tactics that will help both psoriasis and arthritis. These changes will have the greatest impact on psoriatic arthritis as a whole. But, it is also important to make changes that will affect each branch of the condition as well. Treating the parts can often result in a reduction of symptoms as a whole

People say that those who smoke have more fun. A lot of people think this is true. But it isn’t. It has already been unproven in British scientific studies. In a survey of 879 people who have successfullyquit smoking , 70% of them say that their lives are much happier now when their addiction ended, 26% said that their general mood before and after was the same and only 4% of the equation said that they were happier before quitting smoking.

As a former smoker myself, these findings do not really surprise me at all. None of these people who have finally been able to quit smoking regretted their decision of quitting. What they truly regret is having started the habit of smoking in the first place.

There are some silly myths still going around that smoking might actually make you live longer but the quality of your life will not be that good. However, almost all ex-smokers will tell you, this is really not true. Getting to quit, they feel much more in control of themselves eventually and they slowly regain their feeling of self worth.

Based on my experience, it is really quite difficult to ask someone to stop smoking. It is just as hard to convince him or her that quitting is good. A person should focus on talking about the advantages of quitting in term of how it uplifts the quality of his life. Talking about all the health benefits is really old news to him and may not be sufficient. Also, talking about the benefits is better than trying to scare the person out of smoking since positive reinforcement is always stronger. The focus on positive effects or benefits of smoking cessation will definitely give him a goal or a reward at the end of the arduous journey. It is a better motivation than thinking about the consequences that awaits him eventually.

The more of such satisfaction of being in control of their lives becomes pronounced, the happier they are. For those young people who still have a lot of things to do in their lives, the freedom from this addiction is exciting and liberating. For the older ones who feel like they have less time to do anything with their lives and who have been hooked longer, quitting does not always bring joy because they may think that their time has passed. But still, the time they still have, will still be all the better and longer as a result of the cessation.
