The hazards of pesticides and other chemicals found in a variety of household products have been linked to numerous illnesses such as cancer, allergies, respiratory diseases, fatigue, skin conditions such as eczema, depression and much more. These toxins can be found in products we use for bathing, laundry, personal care, cleaning products, and more. More people are adopting a healthy life style that includes using organic products. Products that are certified organic are all natural and do not contain any harmful chemicals and additives. One such product that is proving to be beneficial to the skin is organic body wash products.

Over time, we build up a toxic overload which can be very unhealthy. The majority of chemical filled body care products on the market today can cause such health problems as: allergies, skin rashes, redness, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, acne, and itchy, flaky, dry skin patches. Synthetics are much cheaper and contain such harmful ingredients as Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates (SLS) and Parabens. Organic body washes contain ingredients that are all natural. They are full of vitamins and minerals that nourish our skin helping to revitalize and rejuvenate while leaving it soft and smooth, with a natural glow.

Organic body washes contain ingredients that not only cleanse, but maintain PH balance, and gently moisturizes. Spas are places where a person can get a wide range of health treatments and beauty treatments that are meant to relax and relieve the person from stress and strain. Due to extreme stress in professional life, spas have become more popular offering relaxation treatments with a bigger price tag. The word spa is derived from Latin “solus per aqua”, which means health through water. The spa concept of immersing the body of the person in water to restore and maintain health is considered to be very important to life. According to Sebastain Kneipp, father of hydrotherapy, water and herbs mixed in the right combination; can be used to cure any illness. Today’s modern life style has made people feel sick, stress and exhausted. To maintain a good balanced diet, good exercise and enough rest has become a real challenging issue for both men and women. They get stress from working all the day and get even more aggravated when doing the household chores after the day’s work.

There are different kinds of spas like the day spas where the person has to make an appointment and get treated. Resort spas are like staying in a hotel, spas on cruise ships as one of the relaxing ways, medical spas which are run by medical practitioners to treat patients, home spas for daily indulgence in homes etc. The spa treatments include facials, massages, sauna and other skin and body treatments like pedicure, manicure etc. Some spas are dedicated to particular health aspects like weight loss regime or for back pain treatment.

Latest breakthrough in spa technology involves ultrasonic waves, ozone negative ions and far infrared rays into a single portable home spa machine. This machine provides relief from stress and from common illnesses. Studies have revealed that five minutes of ultrasonic bubble treatment is equal to massage done for an hour. Like the traditional massage of applying pressure directly on the body tissues, this too applies pressure by dilating the cells and penetrating the skin. This ultrasonic home spa provides relaxation and massage to the body, cleans deeply, provides internal warming, beauty contouring etc. For an aroma hydrotherapy to be done at home, one needs to add few drops of herbal oils like the sandalwood oil, citrus oil or lavender oil to enjoy and feel the natural healing of a waterfall, forest bath or a hot spring.

Health benefits of home spas:

Apart from making the person relaxed and rejuvenated, a home spa can even benefit them health-wise too. A home spa can improve the health of a person when used with bath oils and spa salts. It improves the removal of metabolic wastes and toxins from the body. It enhances the oxygenation of the extremities and joints, blood circulation is improved. The muscles are toned with a youthful and glowing complexion. It increases the metabolic rate, enhancing the power to burn calories quickly and promotes weight loss.

It normalizes the blood pressure levels, lowers the cholesterol levels, balances acid-alkaline levels in the body, boosts immunity, improves the flow of lymph, reduces aches and pains of the muscles and joints, enhances the mood and improves the digestive system.

There are several health benefits of water, and your body needs an adequate supply of water in order to function properly.

The human body is anywhere from 55% to 78% water depending on age, gender and amount of body fat, and water is essential to human life. Water forms the basis for all fluids in the body, such as blood and digestive juices, and it’s the catalyst in all metabolic functions throughout the body.

Your body is dynamic and always changing, and this is especially true with regard to water in your body. You lose water routinely when your body performs normal functions such as breathing, sweating and eliminating waste. In a typical day, you need to consume a substantial amount of water to replace this routine loss.

Here are the primary health benefits of water:

*Drinking an adequate amount of water prevents dehydration.
*Water removes toxins and waste products from the body.
*Water carries nutrients to the cells of the body.
*Water regulates vitamin and mineral metabolism.
*Water is a natural appetite suppressant.
*Water helps the body metabolize stored fat.
*Water enhances digestion and helps prevent constipation.
*Drinking more water can often reduce joint pain and back pain.

The first benefit is especially important because mild to moderate dehydration is actually a very common problem. Mild to moderate dehydration can cause fatigue, muscle weakness, poor concentration, headaches and dizziness. Many people who suffer from one or more of these ailments have no idea that dehydration is the cause, and that getting relief is as simple as consuming more water.

It’s commonly said that you should drink eight glasses of water a day to stay healthy, but this is just a general rule. The amount can vary widely from person to person depending on factors such as age, physical condition, activity level and climate. If you drink enough water so you rarely feel thirsty (by the time you become thirsty it’s possible to already be slightly dehydrated) and you produce urine that’s clear or light yellow, your water intake is most likely adequate.

You also need to make sure that the water you drink is as clean as possible. This is why I recommend drinking filtered water instead of tap water or bottled water. Tap water often contains lead and trace amounts of toxins, and there’s also the risk of bacterial contamination. Bottled water is less strictly regulated than tap water. Companies that sell bottled water do not have to divulge to consumers the water’s source, how the water has been purified, and what chemical pollutants the water may contain. Also, all plastic bottles leach plastic byproducts, like phthalates and BPA, into the water. Using a water filter is the only way to ensure that the water you drink is clean and contaminant-free.

In conclusion, don’t underestimate the health benefits of water. Drinking plenty of good, clean water is an easy and effective way to boost your health.

Zinc supplements provide a much needed mineral that is needed by each and every cell in your body. The body is unable to produce zinc on it’s own, which is why we need to makes sure we eat enough food that contains the mineral, drink enough water, or use the proper supplements that will give our cells the zinc they need.

Zinc is very important, as it plays a crucial role with hundreds of processes in the human body. The most prominent functions include support of the immune system, joints, tissues, along with aiding in cell growth.

Zinc supplements have also been proven to eliminate sexual dysfunction, boost sexual function, aid in the health of the hair, and help with skin wound healing.

No matter how you look at it, zinc plays an important role in the function of most of our senses, which includes the ability to taste, smell, and also sight.

Research has indicated that zinc can counter vision loss in the event of macular degeneration. A deficiency of zinc on the other hand can lead to dulling of the taste buds, along with the ability to detect scent.

Although zinc is an essential vitamin for our bodies, taking too much of it can be a bad thing. Research has proven that taking more than 100 mg daily for an extended period can cause damage in the immune system. Older folks on the other hand, can benefit from taking zinc if they have a deficiency. The supplement can actually help older people bring their intake back up to the levels they should be at.

When taking zinc supplements, you should always remember that zinc can indeed interfere with your absorption of copper. For this reason, a lot of experts recommend that they should be taken together. Anyone who takes a zinc supplement should take it as part of a well balanced diet, to ensure that other vitamins and minerals work together with the zinc.

With most dietary supplements in the U.S. being unregulated, you should always choose a manufacturer who is GMP compliant. Manufacturers that are GMP compliant will always follow the manufacturing standards of zinc, in order to minimize and quite possibly eliminate the risk of contaminants that you could be getting from the supplement.

If you choose your supplement wisely, you shouldn’t have to worry about any problems. You can buy zinc supplements at GNC, online, or other nutrition stores. It isn’t expensive either, which makes it a welcome edition to your diet. You should always consult with your doctor if you suspect that you have a zinc deficiency, so that he or she can tell you exactly how much zinc you need on a daily basis. This way, if you aren’t getting enough in your normal diet – you can get the supplements you need.

Although considered to be the primary medical system in China for thousands of years, outside of the Far East Chinese medicine is conceived as alternative medicine. Its non-invasive and natural healing philosophy is becoming progressively popular in the Western world as opposed to the synthetically produced drugs of modern medicine.

The history of Chinese medicine is far from well-defined, but it is believed to have been practised for 5,000 years. The Yellow Emperor, whose reign could have been anything between 2,000 and 3,000 years ago, is thought to have commissioned the first written document concerning Chinese medicine which is Hung-Di Nei-Jing (Cannon of Internal Medicine).

Although methods, such as food therapy, qi gong and massage, play a secondary role to the primary branches that are herbal medicine and acupuncture they still play an important part in the healing process. But few know that restoring harmony and regaining balance rather than treating the disease is the aim of all traditional treatment.

Any illness or disease is caused primarily by lack of harmony. Whereas modern medicine treats bacteria and viruses directly by the use of antibiotics or vaccines, Chinese medicine has a holistic view and targets the imbalance with the philosophy that well-balanced human bodies can resist most everyday illness and disease.

While more and more medical schools are including classes on alternative medicine in their syllabuses, the relationship between Chinese medicine and Western medicine is still contentious. A more subjective view of Chinese medicine is more likely amongst Chinese modern medical practitioners than their older Western counterparts.

Even though, the techniques are now valued in the west. In fact, pharmaceutical companies have recognised the value of traditional medicines and teams of scientists in many parts of the world are engaged to collect knowledge from traditional Chinese medical practitioners. T’ai Chi Ch’uan or qigong, amongst other methods, are being included in classes of hospitals and clinics in the Western world as part of their inpatient and health programmes.

Chinese Medicine is not considered alternative medicine to over three quarters of the worlds population and it is precisely in the areas of prevention and dealing with physical or emotional illnesses that it excels. For thousands of years it has been seen as form of non-invasive, therapeutic and risk free treatment.

Attitudes towards modern medicine and its reliance on synthetic drugs have influenced many to seek support in alternative medicine and Chinese medicine in particular. Chinese medicine is becoming a popular alternative as a means of helping with addictions or dietary problems, amongst other conditions, and regular treatments can serve to maintain good health.

HDL cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein) is the so-called good cholesterol in the blood serum. It is responsible for carrying excess cholesterol away from the body tissues and arteries back to the liver.

The liver combines cholesterol with lipoproteins for use in various physiological body functions and building of tissues. A lipoprotein is a combined unit of lipid, that is, fat on the inside surrounded by protein on the outside.

What are Lipoproteins?

Since cholesterol is water-insoluble, the blood cannot carry it unless it is turned into a water-soluble form. That is where water-soluble lipoproteins enter the scene. They combine with cholesterol to form water-soluble units that can move through the bloodstream.

These lipoproteins are mainly of two types: low-density (20-25% proteins) lipoproteins, LDL and high-density (40-55% protein) lipoproteins, HDL. Medical experts refer to the cholesterol transported by HDL as HDL cholesterol.

So What is HDL?

So, when medical experts talk of HDL cholesterol, they mean HDL-bound cholesterol. Scientifically speaking there is no such thing as “good cholesterol” or “bad cholesterol”. Cholesterol is just cholesterol, a sterol lipid having the chemical formula C27H45OH. In fact, HDL and LDL are not cholesterol at all. They are just lipoprotein vehicles for carrying and moving cholesterol through blood.

Most people commonly call HDL good cholesterol because it travels from the arteries and body tissues back to the liver for recycling or elimination. This prevents a build-up of plaque (a hard fatty deposit) on the inner walls of major arteries supplying blood to the organs. This reduces clogging of the arteries and the risk of heart attacks, paralysis, and hypertension.

Recent Discovery

Scientists have recently discovered that low HDL cholesterol level in blood is an independent risk factor for these cardiovascular and crebrovascular diseases. HDL levels below 40 mg/dL for men and below 50 mg/dL for women are considered low. This is separate from the total cholesterol and LDL levels. This means that even with a normal total cholesterol count and a safe LDL level, people with low HDL cholesterol levels are at an increased risk of heart disease.

Why Lowering Cholesterol Is Not Important

So the emphasis should not only be on lowering the total cholesterol and LDL levels, but also raising the HDL cholesterol level. Research has shown that a drop of just 1 mg/dL in the HDL cholesterol level can lower a person’s risk of suffering a fatal heart attack by 3%.

But how does one raise the HDL cholesterol level while keeping the total cholesterol and LDL levels low? Ideally, an HDL more than 50 mg/dL for men and 60 mg/dL for women is considered heart-protective. Most people, however, can push the HDL cholesterol levels up by making some lifestyle and diet changes.

Benefits of Raising Cholesterol

To raise your HDL cholesterol, take up an aerobic activity like walking, cycling, swimming or dancing for 30-40 minutes 5 times a week. Quitting smoking, losing excess weight and consuming foods rich in dietary soluble fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants also raises the HDL cholesterol levels.

Another lifestyle change that is effective in raising HDL cholesterol is saying no to saturated and trans fats (red meats, egg yolk, butter, whole-cream dairy products, commercial bakery items, deep-fried foods, and so on). Instead go for a diet based on polyunsaturated and monounsaturated vegetable oils, whole grains, cereals, nuts like almonds and walnuts, flaxseeds, beans, legumes, lentils, fruits and vegetables.

The only drugs known to raise HDL cholesterol effectively are niacin (vitamin B3) and a class of compounds called fibrates.

Every year, more than 50 million Americans try a new diet. According to estimates, nearly two-thirds of all U.S. adults are overweight. Fortunately, many people are able to win the battle of the bulge and lose excess pounds through diet, exercise or gastric bypass surgery. While this is great for health and self-confidence, many people are then left with loose, sagging skin. What can people do to remove this excess skin? Body contouring treatments are one of the most popular solutions, providing a safe and effective solution for many people.

However, no plastic surgery is without risks. Before you decide if body contouring is right for you, consider both the potential risks and benefits of this treatment. By understanding how the surgery works, the results you can expect and the possible side effects, you’ll be better prepared to make the decision that is right for your health, lifestyle and needs.

The Advantages of Body Contouring Treatments

The biggest benefit of having body contouring surgery is the ability to regain a firmer, more youthful appearance. Individuals who have experienced significant weight loss, people entering middle age and women who have had children can especially benefit from body contouring treatments. By eliminating excessive skin and fat, surgeons can help patients improve their appearance and body confidence.

Body contouring can be performed on many different areas of the body, which gives patients the freedom to choose which option is right for their needs and goals. The abdomen, arms, buttocks, lower body and breasts are all areas where body contouring can be used to sculpt, shape, lift and tighten the body. Some patients choose a combination of two or more procedures, while others opt for a total body lift.

Potential Risks of Body Contouring Treatments

In addition to considering what you may gain by having body contouring surgery, you should also consider the possible risks and complications. While this procedure is regarded as safe by doctors, all surgery carries some risk. Some of the possible complications associated with body contouring procedures include blood clots, excessive bleeding and infection. Depending on where or how the surgery is performed, patients may also experience scarring. This scarring often fades over a period of months, but some people may require additional surgery to minimize scarring and remove scar tissue.

Any type of cosmetic plastic surgery comes with both benefits and possible risks. Before you decide if body contouring is right for you, spend some time carefully reviewing your goals. Always keep realistic expectations in order to get the most out of your plastic surgery experience. Spend some time discussing your options with your doctor in order to determine if you are a candidate.

Yoga is currently taking its final exam. Even though this science dates back many thousands of years, it has only recently come to the West. This is where Yoga is being empirically tested.

There is nothing like home cooking. The many benefits of home cooking include the joy of preparing a special food dish that is nutritious for your family. Natural Skin Care is a turning trend. Like people drinking water today, who would have thought we would all be drinking more. Our skin needs more care as we get older. With this increase in use of skin care products we are turning to natural ingredients. The satisfaction derived from knowing that you lovingly invested time and effort into the preparation of this home cooked meal, because you care, is priceless. Another benefit of home cooking is that you know what ingredients were used in the preparation of this meal. There were no additives or preservatives. All the ingredients were natural and provided healthy nutrients to your loved ones. Like home cooking, preparing natural skin care recipes from natural food products offers many advantages. The most important benefits include the cost savings, using of natural products, and the ease of availability.

Cost Savings One of the significant benefits to utilizing natural skin care recipes are the financial savings. Often products that are available on the market are made from quality ingredients that are designed to provide optimum results when applied to the skin. However, mixed into the cost of production, are various other factors which increase the cost of the product to the consumer. These factors include manufacturing costs, the cost of advertisement, shipment of the products, overhead for the retailer, etc. When utilizing natural skin care recipes the only cost incurred will be the actual cost of the ingredients that go into recipe.

Use of Natural Products The benefits of using natural ingredients, as part of a natural skin care recipe, are that these ingredients are untreated and unprocessed. These products use their natural juices to aid in beauty and skin care treatments. An example of this is a skin exfoliate that can be made from papaya, honey and lemon juice. The mild acidity of the fruit coupled with the honey allows for this mixture to be applied as a mask. After 20 minutes, following the application, the mask is removed resulting in the removal of dead skin, leaving the face feeling clean and the pores free from dirt.

Ease of Availability Skin care products are as close as the refrigerator or nearest grocery store. For example take the apple; not only is the apple a healthy fruit to eat, but it also helps to tone the face as part of a natural skin care recipe. Apples are generally abundant all year round. By combining a half of cup of apple juice and two small cucumbers, a toner can be created. This natural skin care recipe for toner will help to close the pores to keep out dirt and makeup.

Stomach cancer, also called gastric cancer, occurs in the wall and lining of the stomach. According to the American Cancer Society, about 21,500 new cases of stomach cancer were reported in 2008. Stomach cancer was once a leading cause of cancer deaths, but has recently become less common.

There is no specific reason for the decline in the number of new cases; however, doctors believe it may be linked to refrigeration use for storage of food. Before refrigeration, people preserved food by smoking, salting, or pickling. Large amounts of nitrates and nitrites are found in these types of preserved foods, and these nitrates and nitrites can be converted into cancer-causing compounds in the stomach. Humans infected with the bacteria known as Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) are at higher risk for developing stomach cancer as well. H. pylori lives in the stomach’s mucous layer and has only recently been linked to stomach cancer. Because of this, doctors are still studying the ways the bacteria are transmitted to humans as well as the reasons for its association with stomach cancer.

The development of stomach cancer tends to be slow, occurring over many years. Many early-stage symptoms go unnoticed and undetected. However, when the cancer is advanced, there are several signs and symptoms including:

- weakness and fatigue
- unintended weight loss
- lack of appetite
- general discomfort in the abdomen
- abdominal discomfort, especially after eating
- feeling full after meals, even when eating is normal
- nausea
- vomiting, with or without blood

There are different types of stomach cancer.

Adenocarcinomas account for 95 percent of all stomach cancers. It is found in the stomach’s innermost lining. Lymphoma is an aggressive stomach cancer found on the immune system tissues in the stomach wall. Carcinoid tumors account for a small percentage of stomach cancer and originate in the hormone-producing cells of the stomach. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors, also called GISTs, are rare tumors that can develop in other places besides the stomach; however, the most common location for GISTs is indeed the stomach.

You hear so much about Yoga these days, and there are so many Yoga styles to choose from, that it is advisable to research a particular Yoga style which suits your needs. Some Yoga classes are gentle, athletic, cerebral, religious, meditative, or hot.

Therefore, research the style of Yoga which attracts you most. Then visit a local Yoga studio, or wellness center, for further information. If you have any concerns, you could set up an appointment with a potential Yoga teacher, and share your thoughts about your specific needs.

There are many benefits you can expect from regularly attending Yoga classes, but the five of the most common benefits of Yoga are listed below. Choose a Yoga teacher who fits your needs and do not be pressured into taking a Yoga class that does not suit your lifestyle.

Reduce Stress through the practice of Yoga. This is a universal benefit of all styles of Yoga. If you have stress, when you walk into a Yoga class, you will have much less when you leave.

Some Yoga schools use a variety of methods to purge stress from the body, but the most common are Pranayama (breath techniques), Asana (posture), Mantra (sound), Meditation, and Relaxation Techniques. After a few classes, you will know what works and what does not.

Positive Thinking is a by product of every Yoga class and style, with the rare exception of a dogmatic Yoga teacher. If you discover you are in the midst of a “drill sergeant,” disguised as a Yoga teacher, you have to make a decision based on your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Consider this: If you feel negative after listening to your Yoga teacher, you should leave. You may find another Yoga teacher in the same facility, or at another Yoga center, but do not put up with abuse.

Sleeping Better is a result of the first two, above-mentioned, Yoga benefits. For the most part, the physical styles of Yoga release muscle tension through Asana and Pranayama. The less physical styles may focus on Mantra, Meditation, and Relaxation Techniques.

Relief from Back Pain is a by product of the physical styles, but choose carefully. The more gentle Hatha Yoga sub-styles such as Restorative, Gentle, and Therapeutic Yoga, cater to students with a variety of ailments, including back pain.

Increased Muscle Tone is also a result of the physical styles of Yoga. If you are searching for a Hatha Yoga teacher, studio, or style, choose one that caters to your physical condition. Do not jump into a physically vigorous Yoga class, unless you are physically active. Most injuries, in the physical forms of Yoga occur, when students push themselves too far.

Lastly, have fun trying different Yoga classes, until you find the right one for you, and never force yourself into a Yoga posture. Your best Yoga teachers are your body and mind. Listen to them, avoid pain, be safe, and you will be enjoying the benefits of Yoga for years to come.

In this article I’ll be exploring the use of garlic for health. Nicknamed the ‘stinking rose’, this auspicious herb has been revered throughout history as a cure and natural treatment for all manor of conditions. These include mosquito bites, wounds, heart disease, measles, tumors, snake bites, acne, colds, flu and even vampires!

Garlic’s health benefits are substantiated by a wealth of modern day research that confirms its anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is also a powerful antioxidant and immune booster with anti-inflammatroy properties. Scientific studies reveal benefits for diabetes, cancer and heart disease. It’s heart health traits include lowering bad cholesterol and blood pressure, aiding circulation and preventing against stroke.

Garlic’s might is largely due to the sulfur compounds it contains, such as allicin. Garlic also houses vitamin C, B6, selenium, magnesium, potassium, calcium and manganese and flavonoids.

The sulphur compound allicin provides not only many of the notable benefits of garlic, but also its notorious odour. Allicin is formed during the chemistry of chopping, crushing and chewing garlic, the more thorough the milling, the more allicin is created. Allicin has antibiotic, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties, and the reason why garlic has been used for skin infections such as Athletes’s foot, herpes and warts, digestive and lung infections such as diarrhea, coughs and colds, and Candida yeast and other microbes.

Allicin begins to degrade once produced and on cooking, so eating garlic raw and soon after chopping ensures the assimilation of optimum levels of this compound.

Garlic also contains diallyl sulphides, which, whilst not anti-fungal like allicin, are reportedly good for the blood and circulation, lowering bad cholesterol and boosting the immune system.

Rats that were put on a diet featuring both allicin and diallyl sulphides had a substantial increase in their levels of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione-S-transferase. This mighty enzyme produced within the body is incredibly important in helping to rid the body of toxins, drugs and carcinogens. Increasing levels of this and other phase II enzymes may be one way garlic helps to prevent against cancer, enhancing the elimination of potential carcinogens from the body. This also makes garlic great for a natural body detox.

Garlic as Anti-Inflammatory

The sulfur compounds in garlic have been found to have anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the activity of inflammatory enzymes. Along with vitamin C this can make garlic a protection against the pain associated with arthritis and asthma attacks.

Garlic for the Heart

garlic is renowned for its abilities to lower cholesterol and blood pressure naturally and protect against heart disease and stroke. Garlic has also been found to stimulate the production of nitric oxide in blood vessels aiding their dilation, and assist the body’s ability to dissolve blood clots (fibrinolyisis).

The antioxidant properties of garlic can also protect against cardiovascular disease by inhibiting the oxidation of bad cholesterol which would otherwise build up in artery walls. Further, folate in garlic is known to protect the cardiovascular system.

Garlic for Cancer Prevention

Population studies have revealed that eating garlic regularly, along with other alliums such as onions chives and scallions, reduces the risk of oesophageal, colon and stomach cancer. This may be due to garlic’s ability to reduce the formation of carcinogenic compounds. Garlic’s sulfur compounds such as allicin and ajeone have been found to stop the growth of various cancers in animal laboratory studies, including skin, stomach, colon, breast and oral cancer. Garlic also contains the powerful antioxidant mineral selenium, known for its anti-cancer properties.

Garlic for Diabetes

Some of the damage that can result from the degenerative effects of diabetes such as diseases of the kidney, retina and nervous system, may be deterred by garlic. Rats that were given a drug that would induce similar diabetic-effects in the body, namely an increase in blood sugar, cholesterol and damaged fats and a reduction in the body’s antioxidants, experienced fewer negative effects from the drug and an increase in antioxidant levels when given a daily dose of garlic oil.

Research then, has indicated garlic health benefits against bacteria, fungi and viruses, inflammation (as with arthritis), cancer, diabetes, heart disease and high cholesterol levels.

Garlic – Natural Cure for Common Ailments

Garlic is an all round disease-preventive, and can be used as a natural treatment cure for common ailments such as acne, colds and flu, herpes and wrinkles due to its natural antioxidant and anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. Crush a clove or two of garlic into warm water and drink twice a day though be careful on an empty stomach if you are sensitive to garlic. This also serves as a natural body detox. If your skin is not over sensitive to garlic it can also be applied directly to acne spots or herpes. I find it very effective as a cure for oral herpes (cold-sores). If you have high cholesterol level, use garlic regularly in you’re your food as this will lower your cholesterol level naturally.(obviously along with avoiding a high cholesterol diet).

To summarise…

Garlic Benefits

• Garlic boosts your immune system.

• Garlic is anti-aging, its antioxidant power neutralizing free radicals that procure aging and disease.

• Garlic helps reduce plaque build up (atherosclerotic heart disease).

• Garlic thins the blood and helps to prevent blood clots (fibrinolyisis) hence reducing the risk of strokes.

• Garlic helps to prevent cancer, particularly of the digestive system, and reduces the size and arrests the growth of certain tumors.

• Garlic lowers and regulates blood sugar levels.

• Garlic helps to remove heavy metals such as lead and mercury from the body – natural body detoxification.

• Garlic is anti-inflammatory.

• Garlic (raw, containing allicin) is a natural antibiotic and can kill even drug resistant strains of bacteria such as MRSA as well as Helicobacter pylori, the bacterium known to cause stomach ulcers and implicated in stomach cancer.

• Garlic is anti-fungal and reduces yeast infections in body parts.

Yoga is a healing system of theory and practice. It is a combination of breathing exercises (pranayama), physical postures (asana), deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation (dyana), practiced for more than 5,000 years.

While Yoga evolved as a religious practice in Hinduism, in the Western world has grown as a form of purely physiological, psychological, mental and spiritual practice. Most of the yoga practices in the western yoga have little or nothing to do with Hinduism, but are simply a way of keeping all levels of the human being, fit and healthy and this is only a part of the broad view of yoga. Through the practice of yoga, we become aware of the interconnection between our spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels. Gradually this awareness leads us to an understanding of the more subtle areas of our existence.

Yoga practice prevents specific diseases and maladies by keeping the energy meridians (nadis) open and life energy (prana) flowing. Yoga is considered a mind-body intervention that is used to reduce the health effects of generalized stress.

Laboratory tests have proved the yogi’s increased abilities of consciously controlling autonomic or involuntary functions, such as temperature, heartbeat and blood pressure.

Yoga acts both as a curative and preventive therapy. According to medical scientists, yoga therapy is successful because of the balance created in the nervous and endocrine systems which directly influences all the other systems and organs of the body.

Regular practice of poses (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation, can help such diverse ailments such as: acidity , allergies, Alzheimer disease, anaemia, anger, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, bronchitis, cancer, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, colitis, common cold, constipation, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, eye problems, facial wrinkles, gastro-intestinal disorders, headaches, heartburn, haemorrhoids, hepatitis, high blood pressure, hypertension, immune-deficiency, impotence, menopause, menstrual cramps, migraines, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, nervous tension, obesity, osteoporosis, prostate, enlargement, sciatica, skin problems, sleep apnoea, slipped disk, sterility, stiffness, stress, insomnia, intoxication, thyroid problems, kidney stones, stuttering and stammering, urinary tract disorders for women, vaginal infections and many more…

Benefits for the Physiological Level (Annamaya – Pranamaya Kosha)

Increasing flexibility. Cure and prevent Arthritis – The yoga poses (asanas), act upon the various joints of the body, including those joints that we never really use. By practicing yoga poses we can experience a remarkable increase in the flexibility of the joints, ligaments and tendons. Yoga is exercise and relaxation combined and this is the perfect anti-arthritis formula. Yoga’s slow-motion movements and gentle pressures, reach deep into strained joints. Also, the easy stretches in conjunction with deep breathing exercises relieve the tension that binds up the muscles and further tightens the joints.

Cure and prevent back pain – Back pain is the most common reason to seek medical attention in the West. Yoga has consistently been used to cure and prevent back pain by enhancing strength and flexibility.

Massaging to all the internal vital organs of the body – Research has shown that yoga poses are the only form of activity that massages all of the internal glands and organs of the body and this promotes good health and well-being.

Complete detoxification – Yoga poses (asanas) helps to gently stretch the muscles and joints allowing the optimum blood supply to various parts of the body. This helps to flush the toxins out of the body. This leading to benefits such as delayed in ageing, providing energy and a remarkable zest for life.

Excellent toning of the muscles – Yoga practice can stimulate the muscles that have become flaccid and weak.

Provide balance in the nervous system – yoga is a great form of mediation in motion and that can balance the nervous system.

Reduction of stress – Because yoga practice is a slow and gentle form of exercise combined with breathing exercises, it can relieve body stress.

Cure and prevent respiration problems and asthma

Various studies have confirmed the beneficial effects of yoga for patients with respiratory problems. Physicians have found that the practice of asanas in combination with breathing exercises and meditation makes the treatment of asthma more effective. It has also been proved that asthma attacks can usually be prevented by yoga practice, without resorting to drugs. Patients who practice yoga have a better chance of gaining the ability to control their breathing problems. With the help of yogic breathing exercises, it is possible to control an attack of severe shortness of breath without having to seek medical help.

High Blood Pressure (hypertension)

The yoga postures, yogic breathing (pranayama) and the deep relaxation techniques (yoga nidra), which are basic components of yoga, have a major role to play in the treatment or prevention of high blood pressure and reduce the need for high blood pressure medication for people suffering from it.

Pain Management

Concentration during yoga postures, breathing exercises, deep relaxation techniques and meditation can also help reduce pain. Yoga is believed to reduce pain by helping the brain’s pain centre regulate the gate-controlling mechanism located in the spinal cord and the secretion of natural painkillers in the body.

Weight Reduction

Yogic practices that reduce anxiety tend to reduce anxious eating. Regular yoga practice can help in weight management, for the reason that some asanas stimulate sluggish glands, to increase their hormonal secretions. There are specific asanas, such as the shoulder stand (Sarvangasana) or the fish pose (Matsyasana), which are targeted on the thyroid gland. This gland has a great effect on our weight because it affects the body’s metabolism rate. Fat metabolism is also increased, so fat is converted to muscle and energy and we have better muscle tone and a higher vitality level.

Also, the practice of “yogic breath” (yogic deep breathing) increases the oxygen intake to the body cells, including the fat cells. This causes increased oxidation or burning up of fat cells.

Benefits for the Psychological Level (Pranamaya – Manomaya Kosha)

Self-awareness

Yoga practice increases the self-awareness. The yoga practitioner learns to act instead of reacting. They start to control their feelings and learn to be conscious, living the moment, the Now and not in the past or in the future.

Self-confidence

Self-confidence, or low self-confidence, is something, which Yoga seeks to eliminate through the practices. Someone with low self-respect cannot do their work properly or becomes easily tired, irritable and haggard. One who practices yoga starts to believe deeply in themselves and in the incredible potentials, which they have inside.

Vitality and Change of Mood

Everyone who practices yoga over a period of time, reports a positive effect on both their outer appearance and energy level. Yogic postures with breathing exercises have been seen to result in having an invigorating effect on physical energy and improved mood.

Benefits for the Mental Level (Manomaya – Vijnanamaya Kosha)

Mental balancing

A common breathing (pranayama) practice in yoga is the “alternative nostrils breathing” (Nadi Shodhana Pranayama). Electroencephalogram (EEG) studies of the electrical impulses of the brain have shown that breathing through one nostril, results in increased activity on the opposite side of the brain. The regular practice of alternative nostrils helps to improve communication between the right and left side of the brain.

Benefits for the Spiritual Level (Vijnanamaya – Anandamaya Kosha)

Self-knowledge

Yogic philosophy and practice lead to increased Self-knowledge. This experienced knowledge is merely the spiritual side of yoga practice, which has as a goal to cultivate the “Observer” and increase the knowledge of the nature of the Self.

Knowing the Self, the Observer, which is a genuine kind of knowledge, tends to get lost in the hectic pace of our daily lives and pursuit of desires. The discovering of the Self, inside us, is indeed the most precious spiritual value in our life.

Pure acai berry is becoming known as the most beneficial fruit in the world. Pure Acai berry from the Amazon forest is one of the most nutritious and powerful foods according to Dr Nicholas Perricone. This berry has been around for thousands of years and not until the 1990’s was it introduced to the western world.

Acai berry was first used by the tribes of the Amazon jungle as a cure for various ailments. It comes from a palm that has a long thin trunk up to 25m high with a group of branches with 3 meter long leaves at the top and the berries hang from these branches in clusters, each of them producing 700 to 900 fruits. Each palm tree produces about 20 kg of fruit per year and the wine produced by this fruit has become one of the most important products in terms of finance.

NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF PURE ACAI BERRY

This palm fruit has been eaten for hundreds years by Brazilians. In the 1950’s, medical professionals began to recognize its health benefits. Recently, several medical studies in the United Sates have documented its health benefits. Best studies have shown that pure acai berry is one of the most nutritious foods in the world. In fact, the berry has prodigious nutritional properties. It has high levels of iron, calcium, carbohydrates, fiber and antioxidants. It also has many important vitamins and minerals, including B and E vitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids, Omega-6, and Omega-9.

The fruit of this palm tree was consumed by the natives living in the tropical rain forests of Brazil for as long as people there can remember. For some tribes, it represented more than half of their diet.

Its antioxidants properties help to lower the incidences of heart disease and its high levels of Vitamin E helps the immune system to function better.

But only recently have there been studies to show how the Acai berry benefits health. The following beneficial effects were reported:

* Increase in energy

* A better digestion

* Improvement of sleep

* Being mentally clearer

* It has a large number of proteins and lipids, which gave a strong boost in energy and strength.

* It contains a large amount of many minerals and vitamins such as vitamin B3, vitamin B2, vitamin B1, vitamin C, vitamin E, iron, calcium, potassium and phosphorus.

* The fruit proved in studies to have more than 30 times the Antocyanine (antioxidant) from dark grapes.

* Acai fruit is rich in dietary fiber.

* There are two essential fatty acids – Omega-6 (linoleic acid) and omega-9 (oleic acid). These fatty acids help to control cholesterol levels.

* The acai berry is considered one of the most nutrition packed fruits of South America.

* It encourages detoxifying. Is better than most other colon cleansers on the market.

* It’s useful as an aid to weight loss

* A study showed that it combats leukemia (in the laboratory at least).Acai berry can reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, decrease blood pressure, lower cholesterol and fight heart disease. The berry is composed mostly of multi-nutrient compounds and beneficial anti-oxidants. There have been proven studies that demonstrate the Acai Berry has more excessive nutritional value and anywhere from 10 to 15 times more antioxidants when compared to any other fruit on planet Earth.

Acai berry can strengthen the immune system. Fruit with anti-oxidants and nutrients help your body resists infections, promotes healthy, youthful skin and can even help fight the common cold.

Because of these changes, pre-menstrual syndrome symptoms could also be experienced before, during, and after a menstrual period. These include cramps, mood swings, depression and irritation. These symptoms can be considerably reduced through practicing yoga, which has some poses that could aid in the reduction of pain during menstrual periods.

5)Yoga helps women deal with stress and depression. Because women are emotional in nature, it is expected that they fall victim to stress and depression more than men do. Yoga makes use of meditation, which is a great aid in decreasing the stress and tension levels in the body. Practicing yoga will also help stimulate positive levels of energy.

6)Yoga also helps make the body more flexible. Women tend to lose the flexibility of their bodies faster than men. This is because most of the work that really requires brute physical strength is done by men. Because of this, men’s muscles are known to remain more tight and flexible longer than those of the women. Aside from this, women also lose bone density faster than most men because of the rigors that they go through during childbirth, which could make them lose more calcium, thus leading to making their bones very fragile. Because of this, a woman’s body will begin to lose its flexibility during her thirties. However, this can be delayed by doing yoga exercises.

The alkaline water is used in order to hydrate the body optimally. This contains the ionic minerals that act as a conductor of the electrochemical activity from one cell to another. The bad effects of the toxins can also be zeroed by using the foot detox. This will help in detoxification of even the heaviest metal deposited in the body. Basically the ingredient like the bamboo vinegar helps the body in releasing the waste from the skin.

Basically the alkaline water helps in the neutralizing the stored toxins and the acids in the body. After the neutralization of the acids and the toxins, the body removes them. It has been proved clinically that the alkaline water helps the body to resist disease and the slow aging. This is done by increasing the intercellular hydration, protecting and stabilizing the cells, replenishing the essential minerals, and preventing wastages and flushing out toxins from accumulating in the cells. The alkaline water also helps in maintaining the normal flow of the blood and balancing the acid-alkaline.

If you want to have a healthy body, a correct acid-alkaline balance is what is needed the most. The imbalance of the acids in the body can lead to many health complications such as low energy, excess weight, pains and aches, poor digestion and fatigue. You can regain a balanced acid-alkaline by having proper nutrition and diet. This basically includes drinking alkaline water that is structured and ionic, proper supplementation and eating alkalized food such as low sugar fruits and vegetables.

If you are not drinking the alkaline water, you will definitely be suffering from some serious diseases, such as heartburn, arthritis, angina, back pain, headaches and migraines. Heartburn indicates shortage of the water in the upper part of gastrointestinal part. Arthritis signals the dehydration in the specific joint. Angina is also known as the heart pain which signals dehydration in the lung and heart axis. Headaches and migraines is a result of dehydration in the brain and also behind the eyes.

The foot detox is made totally from the extracts of the natural plants. There are some points that should be kept in mind while using them. There should not be any kind of the metals or any electronic items attached with your body. The plain tap water should be used with no additives with them. People who should avoid using the foot detox pads are pregnant women, persons suffering from chronic disease, or taking any prescribed drug. The organ recipients and the donors should also not use the pads.

Using of the foot detox is very easy. It is so effective and efficient that the unwanted and the dangerous toxins are removed from the body very easily. All you have to do to enjoy the benefits of the foot detox is by attaching them to the bottom of your foot before you go to the bed. You can remove them in the morning and feel the better energy and the level of relaxation which you will experience.

The final three sessions are called the integration phase, because this is where we bring it all together. Our goal is to integrate your upper body with your lower body, as well as your right and left brain hemispheres. Designed to align your body based on its unique properties and needs, the integration phase comprises the most highly individualized sessions of the series.

At this point I will revisit areas addressed in earlier sessions with a renewed focus on how all body parts relate to each other, as well as how they relate to your pelvis (now in a healthier, freer, more functional horizontal position as a result of my earlier work). We may do some of the work sitting or standing, depending on your specific needs, so that healthy balance and alignment of all body parts are established with regard to gravity.

In the eighth and ninth sessions, I will focus on integrating your upper and lower body regions. Although we normally start with the lower body (targeting the legs) in session eight and continue with the upper body (targeting the arms, shoulders, and ribcage, and sometimes the neck and skull) in session nine, this sequence may be reversed if needed to best meet your needs.

In the tenth session, my focus is to smooth the fascia over all structural changes that have resulted from work done in our earlier sessions. My deeper-level work has already been done. Work in this session is more superficial, targeting the body as a whole.

By the end of the integration phase, your body will feel more in balance, your ease of movement will be less constrained by structural restrictions, and your energy level will be higher. You will likely be more aware of your core and the way that all regions and parts of your body align with one another.

After the conclusion of the ten-session series, you will probably want consider how you want to use SI in your life. I’ll be happy to help you decide a plan that works for you. You have several options, each one with merit.

Some clients feel that their Structural Integration work is complete after the ten-session “tune up.” They feel satisfied that the work done has provided them with much-need alignment and restored balance.

Others choose to incorporate SI as part of their good health maintenance regimen. Ongoing SI work is especially advisable for people whose bodies are challenged by the stresses of various life situations, such as:

– Career – Does your job keep you hunched over a keyboard, or undergoing the wear and tear of heavy manual labor?
– Athletics – Do you run competitively, or teach yoga?
– Physical Condition – Do you have scoliosis? Do you suffer from chronic pain?
– Aging – Do you find that the normal changes that come with aging are changing the way you walk, sit, and stand?

As you can well imagine, the above list of concerns is not exhaustive. The trick is to objectively consider how you use your body on a daily basis.

If you decide that ongoing SI is the plan for you, then we will discuss a therapy schedule that works for your specific needs. Most people find that coming in for SI work every second or third month provides ample maintenance for optimum alignment and balance.

There are also clients who may choose yet another approach to employing SI in their lives, including:
– Periodic sessions for restorative alignment and relaxation;
– Emergency sessions to address a specific injury or stress; or
– Post Ten SI work, which is typically a series of several sessions to address concerns that you and I clarify ahead of time.

In the next few articles, we will explore the ways that SI benefits specific populations.

Now that we’ve established that the body functions to its fullest potential when it is properly aligned, the next step is to explore how to restore the body to this state of optimum balance.

Using the CORE method of Structural Integration (SI), I work with you to progress through the same series of ten sessions originally developed by Dr. Ida Rolf fifty years ago. Each session, with its unique focus and specific goal, moves the body purposefully toward the ultimate goal of healthy alignment and balance within the natural forces of gravity.

The ten SI sessions are divided into three phases: extrinsic (focusing on the superficial fascial layers), intrinsic (moving into deeper layers and focusing on the pelvis, spine, and cranium), and integration (focusing on brain hemisphere functions, as well as on the union of the upper and lower divisions of the body). This article will explore what happens in the first phase, and how it benefits you.

Each session in the SI series comprises manipulations designed to prepare the body for the next session. All of the sessions, although of great value individually, are carefully designed to work in concert with each other. Some people have described this series in its entirety as a “tune up” for the body. Going back to the house-on-sinking-foundation metaphor of the last article, you might think of this as what fixes the foundation.

The extrinsic phase – called “extrinsic” because we’re dealing with the superficial fascial layers – comprises the first three 90-minute sessions.

The goal of the extrinsic phase is to create space within the body, preparing it for the work done in future sessions to be more effective and have maximum benefit. By the end of the first session, you will already feel some of these benefits beginning to take effect.

In the first session, I work on the superficial fascia in targeted areas of your body with two specific goals: freeing the lungs to allow for fuller breathing, and freeing the shoulder and pelvic girdles from the ribcage to lengthen the lower back.

(Fascia is dense connective tissue that surrounds muscles, joints, and bones. It provides support, protects body components, and essentially connects everything in the body structure.)

Following the first session, you will probably notice that your breathing is fuller and deeper. Deeper breaths mean more oxygen intake, so you will also notice an increase in energy. Posture is typically more upright. Many clients report that they feel lighter and longer, as well as a sense of well-being and relaxation that lasts several days.

In the second session, we focus on your aligning body’s foundation; I open and align your feet and lower legs to support the body better. At this point, we’ll also address any foot problems, like fallen arches.

Following the second session, you will likely feel a greater sense of support in your feet. Many clients report that they feel more “connected” to the ground as their sense of balance and support is strengthened.

In the third session, we focus on lengthening the sides of your body and freeing your shoulders. This eases front-back strain, and improves the relationship between your upper and lower body by establishing a lateral line.

After this session, you will again notice that your breathing has expanded, making you feel more energetic. You may also notice improved balance and deeper relaxation.

I should mention that the week or so between sessions is not “blank time.” From one session to the next, your body is adjusting to the changes that have been made, and your brain is integrating a new range of motion. The body is constantly rebuilding itself, and that process is directly affected by external influences. For instance, incorrect posture will result in the spinal, shoulder, and neck regions to rebuild themselves incorrectly as they deal with the unhealthy influence of slouching – magnifying the bad effects of the poor posture. On the other hand, newly adjusted posture in which the spine, shoulder, and neck are correctly aligned will result in rebuilding that strengthens these new, healthy changes.

In the next article, we will take a closer look at what happens in the intrinsic phase of treatment.

Ganoderma or red reishi coffee might help to improve your health. Its biggest medical benefit is the way it strengthens your immune system. It can be considered a preventative medicine instead of a treatment for a certain disease. Switching from your regular caffeinated coffee to Ganoderma coffee makes sense due to its ability to improve the function of the immune system. It is said to help the body adapt to many types of body stresses such as trauma, sleep deprivation, temperature, exposure to toxins, psychological stress, infection, or radiation. It helps the organisms in the body return to a normal, balanced state after illness. Red Reishi or Ganoderma coffee, acts as regulator that fine-tunes our immune systems. Its main purpose is to detect pathogens such as bacteria and other viruses that attack the body. A compromised immune system can develop viruses, parasites, bacteria and fungi that cause disease. Repeated use of common antibiotics, anti-viral agents, and anti-fungal medications can cause microbes to develop a resistance to the medications. Consuming red Reishi can eliminate these problems. It’s gaining popularity among many as an adjunct to combating the disagreeable side effects of radiation and chemotherapy associated with cancer treatment. Red Reishi has exceptional anti-stress qualities that can help improve memory, reduce tension and sharpen your concentration.

It is particularly helpful in the treatment of degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and dementia that affects the elderly. Ganoderma or Reishi has been around for many centuries. Originally consumed by emperors and royalty as the “miracle herb”, many westerners have overlooked it until recently. Some of the many health benefits of Ganoderma are its antioxidant effects on the body, the positive effects on circulatory system and respiratory tract. It has been shown to lower high blood pressure, balance cholesterol levels and reduce the symptoms of bronchitis, asthma and other lung problems. Scientist have studied Ganoderma coffee’s use as a treatment for cancer, insomnia, arthritis, and many other diseases. Used for years in Japan and China as a licensed medical treatment, Reishi is often used for its calming and sedative effects. Research among United States, UK, China and Japan prove the unparalleled benefits of this miracle mushroom when used in healing and holist health. So what exactly is Ganoderma? Ganoderma Lucidum is the scientific name for a species of red mushroom also called reishi that is cultivated and grown wild in China and Asia for thousands of years.

The reishi mushroom has been expensive and hard to find in large quantities until recently. The Reishi mushroom only grows on one specific tree in Asia. Scientist are now cultivating the mushroom indoors. This mushroom has more than 200 active elements known to improve health. Some other benefits of using or drinking ganoderma coffee are:

1. Balances blood sugar levels and pancreatic functions.

2. Protects against skin cell degeneration, improving skins texture and reducing appearance of aging

3. Eliminates toxins accumulated in the body

4. Increases metabolism

5. Reduces fatigue

6. Contains anti-oxidants that inhibit damaging free radicals

7. Helps unclog arteries and supports liver function

8. Boosts energy

9. Improves the digestive system

10. Relieves sinus congestion and other respiratory problems

11. Rejuvenates body tissues and cells

12. Boost all body functions

13. Beautifies the skin by improving vitality

14. Effectively aids in the healing of skin wounds, scrapes, psoriasis, mouth ulcers, external bleeding, bug bits and stings.

Apples are a powerful source of antioxidants, including polyphenols, flavonoids, and vitamin C, as well as good source of fibre, and potassium. Lucky for us, there are only 47 calories in an average sized apple. The secret behind the super antioxidant capacity of the apple is its skin.

The apple skin alone provides two to six times the antioxidant activity of the apple flesh alone. Therefore it’s important to eat the skin as well so you obtain the full health benefits.

Along with being a tasty, low-calorie source of antioxidants, apples are also high in fibre. One large apple has 5.7 grams of fibre, which is 30 percent of the minimum amount of your daily fibre requirements.

First of all, apples are wonderful for hydration. They are made up of approximately 83% water. The average small apple has only 60 calories. However, larger fruits can have up to 100 calories per piece. An apple is also fat free and has no sodium. Apples have virtually zero protein, but they do consist of a lot of carbohydrates.

In fact, roughly 15 percent of an apple consists of carbohydrates from sugar and fiber. An apple can have 13 to 15 grams of sugar, which may seem like a lot. However, it is important to remember that this is natural, unprocessed sugar that will not cause the same blood sugar elevations as refined white sugar can.

Apples have additional health benefits in that they control how you absorb sugar during your digestion. This has tremendous benefits for diabetics. Also pectin fiber can lower your cholesterol levels. It has the ability to trap cholesterol in its gummy consistency and rout it out of your body.

Eat raw apple in the morning. If you eat only fruits in the morning and not egg, bacon, cereal, or any thing heavy until noon time, you stand a better chance of clearing your constipation and keeping regular.

You can combine apples with other fruits like oranges, peaches, or apricots. But it is best to eat 2-3 apples during the morning.

In business world people are used to take sick or medical leave. Some times it is necessary to take due to health problem or illness. But few people are taking sick leave without any solid reason. In this article we will discuss how to utilize your sick time? When to take sick leave? What to do in sick time? This article will provide you the opportunity to practice going through the process of deciding whether to call in sick for office.

Identify how sick are you? If you feel not well and think that you need to see a doctor in order to get better, it is the right time to call in sick. If you are suffering from an illness (flu, conjunctive eyeties, etc.) that is contagious, take rest at home. If you go to work in this situation there is a chance that you may get even sicker to the point that you may have to miss more than one day of job. If you go to office, you would not be able give productive results due to the illness.

If you make a decision that it would probably be a good idea to take leave, consider how much sick leave do you have? If you have some days, it might be a good idea to stay home this day to try to get well again. If you only have a few days or a single day, you may have to make a decision whether you may need those/that day(s) at a later date. If you do not have sick leave, can you afford to miss a day’s pay?

A person would have to make this decision based on his health condition. For example, a person may have very bad allergies at the same time every year. That time is coming up and the allergies are worse than how he feels presently.

After making the choice to stay at home from work, then you have to do the following things –

Request your colleagues who will have to do your important work. Follow your office procedure for calling in sick. When you speak to your manager or the person to whom you call in sick, tell him that you are not feeling well and need to take the day off.

Though sick time is a benefit, it should be used only when essential. Employers look favorably on employees who do not take any leave due to illness. In fact, some companies give awards or rewards to employees who do not use any sick time during a specified financial year.

The physiology in Ayurveda is unique because it is based upon the three doshas of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These three biological elements together constitute the structural and functional unit of all living cells, tissues, organs and the body as a whole. When normal, they constitute the three basic tissues or pillars termed as “Tridhatoos” which stabilize life, but when abnormal, the same three elements are responsible for aging, disease, and death; and hence they are termed as “Doshas”.

Ayurvedic medicine which is an Indian origin enables one to lead a graceful, harmonious and vigorous life free of any disorders including gluten allergy. It is a condition of the digestive system resulting in the poor absorption of certain nutrients. Individuals who are intolerant to gluten, a protein, which is mostly found in wheat related products are mostly affected by this allergy. It believes that pitta dosha vitiation is also one of the main reason and hence provides herbal medicines for pacifying it.

Kidney stones or renal calculi are solid concretion or crystal aggregations formed in the kidneys from dissolved urinary minerals. Kidney stones are a common cause of blood in the urine and often severe pain in the abdomen, flank, or groin. Renal colic can be associated with nausea and vomiting. Kidney stones may contain various chemicals. There are several types of kidney stone based on the type of crystals of which they consists. The majority are calcium oxalate stones, followed by calcium phosphate stones. More rarely, struvite stones are produce by urea-splitting bacteria in people with urinary tract infections, and people with certain metabolic abnormalities may produce uric acid stones or cystine stones.

Hair loss for women can be emotionally devastating. More than 30 percent of post-menopausal women will experience some degree of hair loss. Manufacturers of products to restore or prevent hair loss target their marketing to men, and while many also have a line of products for women, their ads pale in comparison. Hair loss restoration and products to reduce additional hair loss for women is the elephant in the room. Everyone sees it; no one is talking about it.

Fortunately, there are ancient systems of medicine that have long dealt with hair loss regardless of gender. Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that has its roots in India and Sri Lanka. The Ayurvedic philosophy is to use a holistic approach that takes the physical, mental, and spiritual attitudes into account in tandem with lifestyle considerations to treat each individual. Ayurvedic treatments for hair loss, irrespective of gender, have a history centuries long.

Diabetes mellitus, simply diabetes, is a very old disease and millions all over the world suffer from it. Though there are variations in the symptoms and nature of this disease, its common features is the excessive sugar in the blood and its passing out with the urine of the patients. This excessive accumulation of sugar in the blood is due to the body either does not produce enough, or does not properly respond to, insulin, a hormone produced in the pancreas, in other words the malfunctioning of the pancreas.
